Deputy Director, Innovation and Planning @Fairfax County Health Department
Chris Revere is Deputy Director for Innovation and Planning at the Fairfax County Health Department, Mr. Revere provides oversight, leadership and direction for the Office for Innovation and the Division of Community Health Development. His priorities are to strategically align policy, funding, public health information, programs and practice to create healthy populations and environments, and address 21st century public health challenges.
Mark Scarano
Executive Director @Community Business Partnership
Before the Partnership, Mark was unanimously confirmed by the US Senate in 2015 as Federal Co-Chair of the Northern Border Regional Commission and was formally appointed to the post thereafter by President Obama. As Federal Co-Chair, he relaunched the agency into a strong Federal-State partnership for economic and infrastructure development in the northeast. Mark started his 22-year economic development career leading economic development organizations on the municipal and county levels in Maine and New Hampshire. During that time, he led successful efforts to attract job creating corporations as well as develop wealth generating workforce, incubation, entrepreneurship, financing, and community initiatives. Mark has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Maine and a Master’s degree from Iowa State University.
Karen Smaw
Director, Diversity Business Investment and Entrepreneurship @Fairfax County Economic Development Authority
Ms. Smaw is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and services that facilitate the attraction, retention, growth and expansion of minority, women and veteran-owned businesses in Fairfax County. Ms. Smaw currently serves on the Virginia Career Works-Northern Region Board and she is Vice-Chairman of the Community Business Partnership, Board of Directors.
