FLIP IT Instead of Flipping Out: You Can Transform Challenging Behavior!
During these uncertain times, we are all experiencing challenges, stress and even trauma. Young children have always shown us their stress in the form of behaviors that we find challenging. As we manage the pressures in our own lives, we are often stumped by what to say and do when a child has done something hurtful, impulsive, disruptive or disrespectful. FLIP IT is four, simple and effective steps to help us transform a difficult moment into one where everyone can learn and grow. We can help children learn about their feelings and gain self-control by using the mnemonic: F-Feelings, L-Limits, I-Inquiries, P-Prompts. FLIP IT is kind, practical, realistic, and will improve your relationships with children (ages 3-8 years old). Don’t we all need a little more kindness right now?
