Enrichment Teacher/Gifted Specialist @Peeples Elementary
April DeGennaro teaches at Peeples Elementary School in Peachtree City, Georgia. Dr. D., as her students' call her, teaches in a SCREAM Lab where students use technology to meet goals in the areas of Science innovation, Computer science, Robotics, Engineering design, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Mathematics. She earned her Ph.D. from Georgia State University in Early Childhood Education, has thirty years of classroom experience, and is part of the national AI Working Group AI4K12 which has been tasked by the NSF to create guidelines for K-12 inclusion of artificial intelligence in school curriculums.
Susan Amsler-Akacem
Technology Innovator and Educational Technology Dept. Head @Lincoln School
Susan Amsler-Akacem is the Technology Innovator and Ed Tech Department Head at Lincoln School for girls in Providence, Rhode Island. She works with the Pre K grade level up to the high school students teaching computer science, robotics, computational thinking, artificial intelligence, and engineering and design. She runs the school's middle and upper school STEAM Hub and is the coordinator for events such as the all-girls Hackathon, i2Learning, Innovation Nation, the school's cardboard challenge. Susan also coaches FIRST Lego Robotics and Odyssey of the Mind teams. She has presented at National Coalition for Girls Schools and Future Education Technology Conference the past 4 years.
