This course has been designed to assist care workers to understand and work alongside people with dementia. The course provides the opportunity for a greater understanding of dementia and enables trained staff to build relationships and offer practical help through person centred care.
The aim of this course is to: enable attendees to define the term ‘dementia’ and recognise the main signs, symptoms and causes; To understand the meaning of a person centred approach to dementia care encompassing equality and diversity, communication, life history, relationships, team work, challenging behaviour and everyday care; enabling rights and choices for individuals with dementia whilst minimising risk.
