Haass is president of the Council on Foreign Relations, one of the world’s most respected international affairs think tanks. He has served as the president since 2003. Haass has also served in various positions at the Department of Defense, the National Security Council, and the Department of State where he was the director of Policy Planning. He also worked at the Brookings Institution, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
