Leadership language is the obstacle to great technology perception

As a leader (manager, product owner, etc.), the way you talk underpins the behaviours you exhibit. You say “Change Approval Board”, you suggest the metrics people should follow, you say budget when you mean fund are common examples.

What if you used the phrase “provide information” instead of “provide instruction”? What if you never asked a question that began with WHY? What would happen if people heard you say “collaborate” and didn’t believe you meant “coerce”?
