Family Law Webinar: An Introduction to Upcoming Changes to the Divorce Act
This 1 hour webinar is aimed primarily at legal advocates and lawyers with limited experience in family law who are looking for information on the upcoming changes to the federal Divorce Act. The changes, which will come into effect July 1, 2020, will primarily affect how the Divorce Act talks about parenting after separation. There will also be new duties imposed on married spouses and lawyers to try to resolve problems out of court, as well as a new duty on courts to consider other relevant legal proceedings in which either spouse is involved.

Our presenter John-Paul Boyd Q.C. works as a family law arbitrator, family law mediator, and parenting coordinator. He is also the founding author of JP Boyd on Family Law. In this webinar, John-Paul will provide an overview of the upcoming changes to the Divorce Act and the likely impact on married people living in BC. He will also show you how to continue to find information on family law using the JP Boyd on Family Law wikibook.

Participants in this webinar may claim up to 1 hour of CPD with LSBC.
