Learning TUgether: Expanding the Search for Gravitational Waves
Join us for a live webinar discussion with Dennis Ugolini, Ph.D., professor and Chair, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Trinity University. Through funding from the National Science Foundation, Dr. Ugolini and ten former and current students have worked on improving the sensitivity of the interferometers, helping them see farther out into the universe.

What you will learn from Professor Ugolini's presentation:
• What are gravitational waves, and what can be learned by studying them
• How the Advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (Advanced LIGO) detects gravitational waves
• Details of the three detections of gravitational waves from merging black holes made so far
• The future of gravitational wave astronomy

All attendees will be able to submit questions. Dr. Ugolini will be happy to answer them.

Sep 21, 2017 12:00 PM in Central Time (US and Canada)
