Picturesque and dainty, this is the fashion era of neo-classically inspired gowns, feminine hats and bonnets - dress conveying not only gentility and the peaceful idyll of novels, but also reflecting an exciting age of change and contrasts.

These are the years spanning Waterloo and Peterloo, the rise of factories, the gin craze and new found love of a cup of tea - the real world of Jane Austen and Bridgerton.
Find out about ancestors clothing from all walks of life
Discover what your ancestors from all walks of life wore in the Regency era (1811-1820), and to place these fashions in context Jayne covers the years before and after, taking in the early decades of the 1800s.
The talk will be hosted on Zoom and begin at 3pm GMT on Wednesday 3rd March. It will last about an hour, followed by time for questions with costume and fashion historian Jayne Shrimpton.
