Digital advertising veteran Norm Johnston has been involved in digital marketing since its birth in the 1990s, when he joined the industry’s first digital agency, Modem Media, which revolutionised the ad industry by placing the first-ever banner ad. In 1997, Norm, from Ohio, left the US to launch Modem Media UK, one of Britain’s first and most successful digital agencies, winning numerous international awards on behalf of clients such as Unilever, General Motors, and Citibank. After Modem was acquired by Publicis in 2007, Norm joined WPP and GroupM’s Mindshare as Global Chief Digital Officer, as well as the Global CEO of its FAST business unit, a team of over 2,000 staff in 115 cities around the world delivering ground-breaking work for global clients such as Unilever, Nestlé, Jaguar Land Rover, and American Express. Norm, a double-winner of WPP’s prestigious Atticus Award, is also the author of Adaptive Marketing, published by Palgrave.

As someone who loves observing, analysing and diving deep into a topic, research was always going to be the perfect field for Rebecca Waring, VP Insight & Solutions at video ad tech company Unruly. With a talent for coming up with original angles and techniques, Rebecca was naturally drawn to Unruly through its work with academia and in-house research projects. Following graduation from Cambridge University, Rebecca joined measurement and analytics giant ComScore, where she spent four years, before moving to Microsoft and then Unruly in 2014. Rebecca loves to spend time with clients and work with them to deliver creative, original and effective video advertising. She’s been published in Adweek and WARC, and has presented on stage at numerous industry events.
