Understanding Our New World - A Conversation with Illinois State Senate President Don Harmon
Join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute on Monday, March 8 at 11:00 a.m. CT via Zoom for a conversation with Illinois State Senate President Don Harmon and Institute Director John Shaw as they discuss Harmon’s career in politics, his role as president of the Illinois Senate, and this year’s legislative agenda in Springfield.

Harmon, elected to the Illinois Senate in 2002, represents the 39th District which includes such communities as Oak Park, Franklin Park, and Melrose Park. He became Illinois Senate president in January of 2020. In his legislative career he advocates for early childhood education, ethics reform, environmental protections, expanded voter access, and civil rights. Harmon has an undergraduate degree from Knox College and a law degree and MBA from the University of Chicago.
