Can we add that vulnerable populations often don’t have checking accounts so we need more flexible funding options for them. Otherwise, it can cost 20% for them to even cash their checks.

What is the recommendation to give a grant donation to one organization (ex. United Way) versus directly to community foundation(s)?
Kelly King
01:24:37
I believe both community foundations and United Ways are regranting to local orgs
Kelly King
01:25:15
CA Community Foundation has been able to waive all fees. I know not all foundations have the capacity to waive admin fees on gifts in/out

We at CA Community Foundation promote giving to local community foundations and United Ways alike

Hi Jenny, We have vetted United Way of Northern California and Ventura Community Foundation as responsibly regranting to organizations in the fire-affected areas.

@jenny - It's a personal preference. A local organization that is something you feel may be overlooked or that you can relate to will always appreciate a gift. Local community foundations/United Way are connected to their communities and depending on fund may be doing longer term recovery.
