Can the link to the participation sheet be posted here in chat so it’s easy to follow through?

What is the schedule driver for an in person meeting that soon? This is pretty short notice for most people.
Jen Eigenbrode
58:14
Will the unperson meeting support remote participation too?
Jen Eigenbrode
58:31
inperson … not unperson

Also the whole idea of workshop without walls is to not have to come up with travel.

There are many way to chek living organinism in sub-suface Mars.

So is the plan to generate a white paper that supports a wide range of mission concepts for the search for subsurface life? Or is the objective to narrow it down to one concept? I am trying to grasp what the end product will be for the decadal survey.

I suppose it would be favourable if the white paper would emphasize next missions related specific proposals, what to focus etc. These might be specific suggestions for certain methods, instuments linked to scientific aspects.

I am not sure how I could contribute, I am a doctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Bremen, Germany. I am working on symbiotic communities on hydrothermal vents in the deep sea.

The direction of this group’s white paper(s) may depend on what if any PMCS proposals get selected that cover this topic. There may be value in complementarity…

It might be interesting to see if this study merges well with the mission studies that NASA HQ selects for science/engineering to get input for the Decadal

Can anyone with experience from the last decadal survey comment on quantity vs quality? In the last decadal survey no papers were submitted on search for extant life and so it got no attention.
Jen Eigenbrode
01:19:04
FYI: life detection is mentioned twice in Vision and Voyages. Once for instrument development for Max-C and once for biohazard assessment. I think a key goal here is to have the next survey capture the communities interest in searching for signs of life, in general, but specifically in the martian subsurface

You know, discovery extraterrestrial life is a very important discovery for humanity.
