During the Q&A we can share more about what SURJ is up to in regards to mutual aid. Shawn Fisher leads much of that work, and has sxciting updates. We can also send links when we send out the recording

How do you think about building mutual aid projects that are sustainable in the face of burnout?
Ash Trull
01:16:51
What types of accountability structures have you seen work well?

Q: What model are these groups doing mutual aid work using to access funds to do the work? Would co-op based models be useful to this work? Some of the principles listed sounded very co-op based (i.e. democratic, consensus based...) and then in terms of keeping/sharing capital within community....Also curious - is there a platform that links up all these various goups doing mutual aid projects across the world so we can connect and see the larger eco-system? :)

Does the mutual aid model work on the global scale? Would, for example, a mutual aid community work when the community members live and work in both Western Europe and Western Africa?
Ash Trull
01:30:19
How do we keep our eyes on the prize/vision while doing mutual aid/direct support work? Sometimes it feels like constantly being in survival mode and just trying to keep our heads above water. How do people make space for visioning and building alternatives?
Ash Trull
01:31:19
Also, with that, how do we prevent ourselves from getting too “in the weeds” and creating overly complicated or bureaucratic-feeling systems/orgs

Do you recommend any anarchist literature that can help us contextualize mutual aid work and ideas?
Shawn Fischer he/them
01:35:02
@mackenzie Mutual Aid: A Factor in Evolution by Peter Kropotkin, Black Flags & Windmills by Scott Crow, What is Mutual Aid by sub.media (film), are just a couple places I'd start.

What are some of the best examples you've seen of mutual aid projects being able to provide new avenues and support engagement from people who may be new to the movement/organization?
Sarah Duncan

Wow, thank you for saying that about numbness and news.
