Here is the direct link to the ODE Science Landing Page http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Learning-in-Ohio/Science
And we really did read every comment that was submitted - and considered all feedback and t
and topic suggestions
The ODE Science Team has worked hard to keep their science landing page updated as a resource for us!
KEY INFO.... new test specs will be out around July of 2020. Test specs are super helpful for understanding how the standards will be assessed.
Yes, please reach out to us if you have ANY questions....
Will the Integration Maps that were created for some of the content be made available again in the future?
Bernard - We will be developing Instructional Supports, that will be out by next school year, but I am not certain if there are "Integration Maps"

In the second grade standards the wording infers that gravity is a force. This is not a true statement but I know it is easier to understand. Was there justification for this wording?
Is the grid similar to Blooms' Taxonomy?
Bernard I've not looked at grade 2 but isn't the gravitational force one of the four fundamental forces? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question...
Chad, great explanation. Thank you.
Holly, the reason for my question is because I have been working with engineers from WPAFB and they have questioned this wording. They explained how gravitational force is inaccurate. All forces must have mass. I told them that if I ever had a chance to ask someone I would ask. So... I thought I would ask.
In my Engage Level (Level 0) of the grid, I use a Page Keeley probe for a formative assessment, show a video, and have students record their vocabulary with the understanding that this vocabulary will be used for the entire grid. I supplement vocabulary practice with Quizlet bellwork and Quizlet Live. (MJ Clark)
I love the idea of using the Page Keeley probes in the entry level!
I like to include a level 0 as well, and I use the 5Es. I'm trying something new with my current unit - marrying a grid with a badge tracker google sheet that Alice Keeler posted on Twitter. I paste the grid activities into the google sheet and as kids complete them, it awards them "badges," and automatically levels them up.
I am not familiar with Alice Keeler. What is her Twitter ID? Thanks
For tracking, I use a gradebook page and record C for completion or a score, if needed, on a clipboard. I also show it as an Excel sheet, as you mentioned. (MJ)
it's @alicekeeler - she's a google classroom guru and she posts things frequently
Thank you Holly
You're welcome - if you can't find it, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can send it to you.
At the beginning of the year, I send home a parent letter that describes my mastery grading system, and I ask for a signature
Thats a great way to get the info to the parents from the beginning, Holly!
