"Owning Your Own Shadow”
Great book on Jungian shadow!
Michelle, is there a Pema Chodron book that particularly focuses around the quote that you just mentioned?
I like Pema’s book “When Things Fall Apart” - I don’t know if that quote is in there, but she talks about feeling true emotion
^I just got the audiobook—I’ll move it to the top of the list! Thanks!
Rather, survival demands that women disguise our anger, even from ourselves.Male culture ensures that women’s anger is not taken seriously (and thus that women’s anger will not lead to social change) by defining anger in women as pathological. Hochschild (1983) found that males who displayed anger were thought to have deeply held convictions, while females were considered personally unstable. Women are fearful of expressing anger at men because we fear such expressions will disrupt our bonds with men— bonds we see as life jackets in a sea of male aggression.
Leaving this here for a good read about the evolution of the myth of the goddess (I mean myth in a good way). Some of which I think we've definitely forgotten as we evolved in a patriarchal agrarian faith system https://www.amazon.co.uk/Myth-Goddess-Evolution-Image-Arkana/dp/0140192921

Kahlil Gibran in Joy and Sorrow:The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?

bonnie feels it.
Nada, thank you so much for your vulnerability <3
Yes! I highly recommend working with a somatic therapist who can help release some of that anger that we carry in our bodies. Also, I found that doing any form of martial arts helps us to physically release while also empowering ourselves.
you definitely need to let it out from the gut. whatever sound it is, doesn't matter (and can also freak the shit out of you because you might sound like a monster)
thank you Nada! I relate so much to your story!
