Non violent might not work amassing weopons but not using unless attacked would give power
Marian simon
27:39
Thanks!
gen de spa
27:59
non violent is the only thing that works. Otherwise you are buying in to the existing system and being part of the problem
Chris
28:10
Were the blockades announced beforehand? Where, how?
Alison Page
28:16
I'm trying to get in touch with someone else on this call, Sue from Cambridge, MA. I am near Cambridge, we should collaborate
Kim Goddard
28:22
non violence works but in some countries the police are not non-violent!
Teia
30:05
But 'normal' people are the ones who voted these losers into power!
Rebecka de Verdier
30:07
So you will try to fight back violence with violence?
Alice Melendez
30:12
the other US folk I see here are from Boston. I'm in a rural place, near some smaller cities, more politically reactionary, near edge of coal country, where the people who get rich on it live, so as not to live where the water is poisoned. I can see doing these talks very successfully, strong networks of anti-establishment earth-friendly folks. But to have a nov 17-like day here, there is a puzzle for identifying which cities to choose, to allow people to have a center in reach, and to have a critical mass at each spot... anyhow, hello cambridge, MA from rural KY
Anne Webb
30:22
I missed something there I think, about actions being in capital(s)? Wondering how we'd apply that in Australia, if anyone has thoughts (small, remote capital)
Rebecka de Verdier
30:23
Tell me, Kim, about in which reality that doesn't escalate things
Alice Melendez
30:50
anne webb-- we are thinking alike on these big spread-out countries...
Manuel Trindade
30:57
What are you willing to give up in order to prevent a global extinction, global deforestation, GHG emmissions and catastrophic climate change? Are you aware that we cannot change things without giving up some of the "comforts" of the current system?
Kim Goddard
31:18
not suggesting violence - just need to be prepared as to how to respond when one is attacked by the police!
Rebecka de Verdier
31:37
Kim, Shields. Shields if anything.
Rebecka de Verdier
31:39

Question: How do you make decisions, for example, on the final version of the international calls, on dates for global action/rebellion days?
Teia
33:52
Can we take actions under the ER banner w/ previous permission?
Karin
34:19
where to start if you start from ground zero?

35:11
Is it possible to get access to Sue's email so we can work together? We are from the same city.
andrea(s)
35:11
Country wide meetings, or meetings in other languages (e.g. Spanish, German, French, Turkish). Doing all in English limits accessibility.
Chris
35:17
Can you help wih bringing the people from the different countries/ cities together? E.g. from this chat?
Max Rademacher
35:22
1: Can you explain the next steps (the calendar of of mobilisation), specifying international involvement 2: Can you specify how we, Alternatiba/ANV (French non-violent action movement) can support your movement other than by organizing rebellion actions in France (at the moment we are just discovering your movement. We are very sympathetic to it, but not yet ready to launch XR in France full on)
Neil Woodley
35:33
Interested in the Arts and media aspect as thats my field, and yes key points to use in conversation to recruit would be helpful
Alexis Passadakis
36:03
How many people were arrested on Saturday? Why do you think that being arrested is so important in your discourse? Why not doing actions and avoid being arrested?
Jodi Feist King
36:38
I would love to get involved in outreach on a national level and go after universities. mobilise the younger generation. is this possible?
Jodi Feist King
36:59
and internationally
gen de spa
37:42
Is any of your organising hidden from police? Or totally transparent all the time?
Rising Up
37:58
here is the talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2VkC4SnwY0&t=718s
Alice Melendez
38:01
question: how will we be linked up with other people in our home countries, beyond the local networks we bring to the table. Using Slack? I know TCM is involved in the USA-- I met yall through their mobilizer call. I guess you/they are going through the spreadsheets of everyone signing up through the website-- rough number of people at this point signing up in the US?
gen de spa
38:26
Do you have laws in UK where private companies can press charges for loss of income?
Sue Donaldson
39:03
Should we connect with your US organizer as we start a group? Or just go for it? What enables us to use the XR name?
Bea Ruiz
39:37
Has XR UK evaluated the actions that happened on Nov 17 in the uk? Is it very different from previous actions in the Uk in terms of length of the blockades or the blockades happening more than one day? In my experience, the Nov 17th actions were similar to what’s happened before and hasn’t been enough. Is there a plan for escalation - to do blockades that are longer or to have people come back day after day - as people are arrested, new people replace them for ex? Or a plan to not cooperate once arrested so as to continue the action?
Teia
39:40
can we seize the Gilets jaune movement and try to appeal to them?
Silvia Mutterle
39:54
I’m joining a different mobilisation on ‘climate alarm’ in Italy on Dec. 8th but would like to display your banner. Expand and inform
Anne Webb
40:14
yes, so our city is ideal (Melbourne)
andrea(s)
40:18
@gen de span: I think it would be important to look at the legal situation of each country where you want to mobilise. E.g. mass arrest is much easier in the UK, as they don't have ID cards, in Spain very often they just identify you and then later you get a court case or just a fine. So getting a mass arrest is much more difficult.
Anne Webb
40:41
@gen de spa Have you got any NVDA training or contacts in your country?
Marian simon
41:22
Which level of coordination between national groups do you expect? Do you re-driect those people filling up the form in xrebellion.org to coordinators in their country?
Anne Webb
41:30
Anyone else here in Australia, please send me a message privately
Kim Goddard
41:31
Teia -I tried talking to some of the gilets jaune - they're concerned more about money in their pocket than ecological problems which seem out of their control

do you have graphics and materials available on line?
Anne Webb

Aleksander Melli
43:35
why bridges? why cause disruption to traffic as opposed to govt offices, fossil fuel infrastructure etc? PS Love what you all do, will be spending the next decade engaging in civil disobedience but am unsure at this time of your strategy. Relieved to hear how much wise thought has gone into this, however. 💚

It looks like this page https://rebellion.earth/who-we-are/ doesn't let us put in different countries yet?
Carol Keiter
45:40
Can you send all of this material in the chat in an email?
Neil Woodley
45:48
Is there a group in Toronto as yet?
Alice Melendez
46:17
@andrea & gen-- yes, lots of differences from country to country as far as legal terrain in which one might get arrested. Some efforts to mark environmental protestors as domestic terrorists here in the US. So, people blockading a pipeline access at Bayou Bridge LA for example are in court on a whole different level of risk https://www.thenation.com/article/photos-since-standing-rock-56-bills-have-been-introduced-in-30-states-to-restrict-protests/ https://insideclimatenews.org/news/24082018/pipeline-protests-new-louisiana-law-activist-arrests-oil-bayou-bridge-energy-transfer-partners
Chris
46:25
Is there already a group in Berlin?
Rising Up
46:35
We have a list of international coordinators here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tGLXurEPct4wi-9m4nYn2xi0LkkVOWakxkn2yR7jHMQ/edit
Alice Melendez
47:05
However the model of blockading in cities rather than on easements, etc, should be less risky in this regard
Carol Keiter
47:10
Carol Keiter from USA
Kim Goddard
48:03
Blocking roads doesn't cause any material damage but do you envisage eg supergluing the locks of banks? which may bring charges and costs?
Anne Webb
48:11
Can someone link to the XR meeting template document?
Sue Donaldson
48:21
Note, everyone, if you click "More" at bottom of chat page you can save the whole chat on your computer.

Thanks so much for kicking this off so beautifully. Love your organizational structure, reminds me of the structure we use for an annual earth skills festival which we've come around to over the last few years-- follow our core principles and take care of your own area of work without needing too much oversight, report together before core action. Anyway, just a great model and messaging to start a round of internationally coordinated work!
