May 2 The Grid Method Part 2 - Shared screen with speaker view
Timewise, what was your experience as far as planning and preparing?
Are your physical science students mostly 9th grade?
Is the expectation that all students will complete level 4?
At the end of a unit, how do you go about closing it out- even if some students haven't progressed through fast enough- to the next unit? Does the whole class just move on? Do students still have a chance to complete a previous unit?
I really like the idea of creating a grid around the Five E's rather than DOK levels.
Genius, I do 5Es and I love this idea
There can be a variety of options at level 4 but the expectation should be all students should be doing inquiry.
On Chad's Teach Better Website, there is a video about being stuck on a level and ideas of what to do next.
Has anyone used goal setting with their students? "You are working on 2A right now, where do you think you'll be by the end of class?" especially with those who like to lag behind?
Did you create your Grid template or find it somewhere?
I found it on his website.
Eryn, it's on the TeachBetter Website
Free or do you have to pay for it?
It was an 8th grade grid that I modified
I like FREE
He will help you just by asking
I completed the online course
Look on the Facebook Page as well
They connected me to a group of second grade teachers that are GRID savvy
I had a teacher that has his students record a flipgrid on the grid method.
I LOVE flipgrid and also one called Goosechase - kids - neat way to get into a kids thinking
My teachers that have tried grids have also seen peer pressure works to get kids working!
Love the GEMs idea!
I have issues not necessarily stuck, but "happy" at level 2 and not interested in doing the inquiry or PBL at level 3/4. Any ideas?
Some teachers at our school use badges (stickers) for their notebooks to show accomplishments. The high school kids eat it up!
I think it is funny that HS kids and little kids like the same things.
I'm not fluent with facebook. How do you find/join the facebook page?
Is this something that ODE is looking at implementing?
If you need a certificate, please send me an email and I will send you a participation certificate. firstname.lastname@example.org
ODE is looking to use the GRID as an instructional tool with adaptations!
