The federal government has invested a great deal recently in HBCUs. While the focus wasn’t on rural education, it’s worth noting many HBCUs are located in rural areas and/or serve rural communities. This has actually been the case historically. There is a lot of room for meaningful policy analysis regarding the strategic support of HBCUs and other MSIs to support and help provide sustainable infrastructure for rural communities.
