Today we will take action again to call for relief. Here is the toolkit. It includes tweets in Spanish and messages that connect child care to what’s happening with the Senate and SCOTUS (for those who would like to lift up those messages).

Anyone have a good thermometer for use outside? I know it is not a "required" thing to do by OEC standards but we are BY CHOICE. The cold weather makes a temporal scan read very low.... anyone have brands that are successful?

In February 2020, COVID-19 was added to the List of Reportable Diseases. Those required to report such diseases must report cases of COVID-19 infection immediately to the DPH Epidemiology and Emerging Infection Program(860-509-7994) and the local department of health in the town of residence of the case-patient by telephone on the day of recognition or strong suspicion of the disease. For weekend and after-hours reports to DPH, dial 860-509-8000. Contact information for the local health department can be found athttps://portal.ct.gov/DPH/Local-HealthAdmin/LHA/Local-Health-Administration---Site-Map.

Cleaning and disinfecting outdoor areasOutdoor areas, like playgrounds in schools and parks generally require normal routine cleaning, but do not require disinfection.Do not spray disinfectant on outdoor playgrounds- it is not an efficient use of supplies and is not proven to reduce risk of COVID-19 to the public.High touch surfaces made of plastic or metal, such as grab bars and railings should be cleaned routinely.Cleaning and disinfection of wooden surfaces (play structures, benches, tables) or groundcovers (mulch, sand) is not recommended.Sidewalks and roads should not be disinfected.Spread of COVID-19 from these surfaces is very low and disinfection is not effective.
barbara davis
01:33:31
I'm glad you are saying not to disinfect the playground but you aren't going quite far enough. The CDC says cleaned routinely not enhanced cleaning. also see no cleaning of sand.
