22:25
Is there any news about the software that NBME will be using for security?
Eunice
22:32
for their exams?
Eunice
24:44
Thank you!
Preston - UTMB
28:47
Can you explain why the surgery shelf exam was moved up by one week?
Preston - UTMB
30:15
Thank you!
Jessica Stauber
32:43
What about in regards to our current fourth year schedule structure? Will our third year clerkships bleed into our fourth year?
Jessica Stauber
32:49
I understand if you don't now at this time :)
Jessica Stauber
32:53
know*
Eunice
33:07
From another student: What is the absence policy if a student contracts COVID-19?
Anna Fields
33:15
for pedi they moved our shelf up too. does that mean we will start the next section a week early?
Blake Johnson
35:25
since over 50% of the OB and Psych was completed, will there be clinical aspects of those rotations needed to be completed in 4th year?
Jessica Stauber
36:03
I think the student was mainly concerned about the fact COVID-19 is not going to be eradicated by the time we return to on-site clerkship activities.
Kim Khoo
37:20
Has there been any consensus on whether or not rotations are definitely P/F now? Second question: how should we approach MSPE comments from the clerkships we were in the middle of before we were suspended? Thank you so much!!
Eunice
37:29
Thank you @Jessica
Melissa Victory
38:50
Can timing flexibility be considered for "bleed over" clinical time into fourth year to allow for students who have an AI/Neuro/other requirements during the first few periods to allow them to stay in those courses? (ex. if we have an AI or Neuro periods 1-3, can we choose to do clinical work for surgery/obgyn/etc. during later periods?)
anna
39:52
for Pedi right now we are still logging in NI for the virtual components we complete. But we may still have to complete some % of the clerkship in a clinical setting regardless of how much of the NI logs we complete? (just want to make sure I understand)
Paulette
40:44
Will Dr. Farr be joining this meeting?
Eunice
41:00
From another student: For students that are behind and need to make up clerkships, how would that look with this bundled didactics/clinical model? I know everything’s up in the air right now and there might not be a definitive answer. Ex: would we be able to move into didactics for our next core clerkship we need to make up?
Kim Khoo
41:40
Gotcha - thank you! 😊
anna
41:46
wait, I am confused… so we are going to P/F for the intra-COVID components or that is still TBD?
Eunice
43:57
@Kim, Dr. Woods and Dr. Farr has previously stated that the MSPE will have a visually obvious delineation (e.g. a paragraph explaining COVID circumstances preceding grades affected by COVID) between the pre- and intra-COVID clerkships.
Ben Kensing
45:01
Will the online/virtual components of 3rd year clerkships still occupy the entirety of previously schedule course dates? ie: OB/GYN starts Monday and is scheduled to last 6 weeks. Will online content occupy all 6 weeks or can we expect it to be condensed? (since we will likely have to dedicate weeks of time to make up the clinical component 4th year)
GenevieveK
45:30
what about people scheduling away rotations? in terms of the clinical requirements at the beginning of the year.
Melissa Victory
45:30
Thank you!
Kim Khoo
46:14
@Eunice: yes! I saw that. Just wanted to see if there was an update. Thank you!
Jessica Stauber
49:38
Is the "bundling" of didactic component perhaps why shelf exams are being moved up?
Dania H
50:06
does online content being shorter mean shelves are earlier?
Jessica Stauber
50:58
Thanks so much!
Jessica Stauber
51:15
So then we will transition to our next clinical early?
Jessica Stauber
51:20
Right after our shelf?
Jessica Stauber
51:33
Okay, thank you!
Elise Weisert
51:42
since over 50% of the OB and Psych was completed, will there be clinical aspects of those rotations needed to be completed in 4th year? We were told they are P/F as of now
Katherine Cook
52:37
In regards to Genevieve's question about away rotations, are you unsure if UTMB will be accepting away students or if UTMB will not let their own students complete away rotations elsewhere?
anna
54:09
who do we reach out to regarding financial hardship? asking for a friend…
wsboeh
55:03
You can reach out to Carol Cromie if you are experiencing financial hardship
Neil Jacob
55:16
With the future curriculum still up in the air, should we still apply to away rotations for the fall?
Neil Jacob
55:41
Thank you.
anna
56:05
probably too early to say but do we expect period 1 to be affected?
anna
56:21
totally fair
anna
56:29
thanks!
Paulette
56:39
what about step 2
Jessica Stauber
57:07
I am scheduled for step 2 in period 1 so does that mean I should reschedule?
A.H.
57:49
Could you overlap online didactic material from two separate clerkships at same time since it is more flexible, this way we would have more time open to do the on-site clinical portions of the perspective rotations, when they resume?
Jessica Stauber
57:53
I also signed up for my CS in period 1, but given the delay of ICEE does this mean I need to reschedule it for after we complete the ICEE and receive word we have passed it?
Dr. Pierre W. Banks
58:15
If any of you have concerns about shelf exam being moved up and want assistance with planning schedule an appointment with ASCC at https://bit.ly/asccappt

58:58
What can I do during an upcoming elective period if I the elective I’m signed up for will most likely be cancelled?
alex
01:00:45
Step 2 cs isn’t very pandemic friendly considering some of us may have to travel. Is there any word as to if they will push back the exam requirement to a later date? All the cs dates are taken up until December so we don’t really have options to reschedule
Dania H
