WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE ABOUT USING SCENARIOS FOR PLANNING?
Deborah Gonzalez
29:25
How do you determine what the actual variabls are?
Faye Rosenberg-Cohen
29:30
how do i adapt to my Canadian and local realities
Deborah Gonzalez
29:31

Louise Jesse, MJF (She/Her)
32:33
Will you be providing these slides to participants?
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
33:37
Louise, hi! and yes.
Debbie Niederman
33:42
Slides and recording will be shared here: https://www.jewishtogether.org/scenarioplanningresources
Toby Rubin
34:13
Thank you!!
Toby Rubin
40:13
Timeframe under consideration in scenario planning today?
Faye Rosenberg-Cohen
42:37
i don't have a change of president in November. and i don't expect to lose our social safety net entirely. If i just remove those items from the descriptions, are the scenarios just as relevant ? or should i replace with other aspects?
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
44:46
Faye, I would do a little bit of both. The scenarios themselves don't mention a change of administration. So when you get into them with stakeholders, you won't have to do active shifting - just the act of translation that every municipality will have to do.
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
45:15
And as you do that translation, you might find that in Western Canada, you're more in Tribes or Manna than, say, Chicago. And that makes sense.
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
45:31
The reason we're trying to equip you to do this locally is exactly because it's so very local.
Erin Schnair
46:36
With the toolkit, there are also exercises (which we’ll do in a minute together) that ask you to customize the scenarios to your stakeholders and situation
Daniel Chejfec
59:50
In every scenario there is a demographic dimension, so potential demographic mobility?
Debbie Niederman
01:00:07
WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE ABOUT PLANNING SIMULTANEOUSLY FOR MULTIPLE FUTURES?
Erin Schnair
01:01:00
@Daniel, in the scenarios doc there are sub-bullets that go into further details about demographics in each (does that answer your q?)
Debbie Niederman
01:01:48
You can find the toolkit here https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1e8ue5cuzENP7BCMHVIenEMFfJV-0s7YBxLlXZN2GbxI/edit#slide=id.g8ad3cd6869_0_59
Daniel Chejfec
01:02:11
Not really. Being in a small community, the potential for people leaving for larger job markets is real and potentially disastrous for Jewish communal life
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
01:04:58
Daniel - let's make sure to address with Matt when we stop for questions again.
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
01:05:13
I think the point is about customization, and how you use these to spin out your own local circumstances.
Daniel Chejfec
01:05:23
OK. Tell me when
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
01:05:34
Even small communities could each be different... rust belt or sunbelt? etc.
Daniel Chejfec
01:05:52
Neither. Georgia :)

01:10:51
For strategic planning, as a Jewish Federation, we have various stakeholders: ie our own organization, our Foundation, our philanthropic world (Federation as a fundraiser) and our programming world (we help launch projects in the community). Do we go thru this effort for each stakeholder group, or said differently, do we do it with each hat we wear as an organization?
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
01:11:35
Deborah, we don't think there's a right way - it's really about your organizational resources and biggest questions.
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
01:12:17
You could create a process where you come together, but have people working in breakout groups of 2-3 people, from each agency, the Foundation, Federation. Maybe you have some assumptions/ ideas that are cross-community, maybe there are some that are particular to each org/ project.
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
01:12:34
Or, you could drill down as Federation, the Foundation, across organizations.
Karen Sponder
01:13:23
I'm interested in seeing my Federation have this conversation. Are there any examples of Federations empowering its agencies and local organizations to do this type of scenario planning individually? If yes, how.
Faye Rosenberg-Cohen
01:13:55
Deborah, i am struggling with a similar question, about how to use this to re-evaluate our community plan and priorities to re-focus
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
01:16:56
I should add that we're available and even eager to consult with anyone on the zoom right now!
Beth Cousens (she/ her) (JFNA)
01:17:08
