29:08
WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE ABOUT USING SCENARIOS FOR PLANNING?

29:25
How do you determine what the actual variabls are?

29:30
how do i adapt to my Canadian and local realities

29:31
*variables

32:33
Will you be providing these slides to participants?

33:37
Louise, hi! and yes.

33:42
Slides and recording will be shared here: https://www.jewishtogether.org/scenarioplanningresources

34:13
Thank you!!

40:13
Timeframe under consideration in scenario planning today?

42:37
i don't have a change of president in November. and i don't expect to lose our social safety net entirely. If i just remove those items from the descriptions, are the scenarios just as relevant ? or should i replace with other aspects?

44:46
Faye, I would do a little bit of both. The scenarios themselves don't mention a change of administration. So when you get into them with stakeholders, you won't have to do active shifting - just the act of translation that every municipality will have to do.

45:15
And as you do that translation, you might find that in Western Canada, you're more in Tribes or Manna than, say, Chicago. And that makes sense.

45:31
The reason we're trying to equip you to do this locally is exactly because it's so very local.

46:36
With the toolkit, there are also exercises (which we’ll do in a minute together) that ask you to customize the scenarios to your stakeholders and situation

59:50
In every scenario there is a demographic dimension, so potential demographic mobility?

01:00:07
WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE ABOUT PLANNING SIMULTANEOUSLY FOR MULTIPLE FUTURES?

01:01:00
@Daniel, in the scenarios doc there are sub-bullets that go into further details about demographics in each (does that answer your q?)

01:01:48
You can find the toolkit here https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1e8ue5cuzENP7BCMHVIenEMFfJV-0s7YBxLlXZN2GbxI/edit#slide=id.g8ad3cd6869_0_59

01:02:11
Not really. Being in a small community, the potential for people leaving for larger job markets is real and potentially disastrous for Jewish communal life

01:04:58
Daniel - let's make sure to address with Matt when we stop for questions again.

01:05:13
I think the point is about customization, and how you use these to spin out your own local circumstances.

01:05:23
OK. Tell me when

01:05:34
Even small communities could each be different... rust belt or sunbelt? etc.

01:05:52
Neither. Georgia :)

01:10:51
For strategic planning, as a Jewish Federation, we have various stakeholders: ie our own organization, our Foundation, our philanthropic world (Federation as a fundraiser) and our programming world (we help launch projects in the community). Do we go thru this effort for each stakeholder group, or said differently, do we do it with each hat we wear as an organization?

01:11:35
Deborah, we don't think there's a right way - it's really about your organizational resources and biggest questions.

01:12:17
You could create a process where you come together, but have people working in breakout groups of 2-3 people, from each agency, the Foundation, Federation. Maybe you have some assumptions/ ideas that are cross-community, maybe there are some that are particular to each org/ project.

01:12:34
Or, you could drill down as Federation, the Foundation, across organizations.

01:13:23
I'm interested in seeing my Federation have this conversation. Are there any examples of Federations empowering its agencies and local organizations to do this type of scenario planning individually? If yes, how.

01:13:55
Deborah, i am struggling with a similar question, about how to use this to re-evaluate our community plan and priorities to re-focus

01:16:56
I should add that we're available and even eager to consult with anyone on the zoom right now!

01:17:08
feel free to email scenarioplanning@jewishtogether.org and we'll figure out how to support you from here.

01:20:23
Feeling isolation, no longer connected to the Jewish community since they cannot/are not gathering together.

01:20:40
Jewish engagement isn't relevant to greatest needs

Polarization between those who have and have nots

01:20:55
they will drift away from JEwish life unless we can find new ways to engage. They aren't looking for us, where they might have joined in , they are now isolated, perhaps without even realizing it.

01:20:56
tighter knit, smaller groups

01:20:57
the core of community, which is being together, would start to unravel.

01:20:59
Jewish life becomes even more home-based. Leads some to seek out more learning so they can DIY Jewish at home.

01:21:48
would families contribute at the same level if they are not physically coming together?

01:21:49
If people feel less connected, they may not prioritize donating.

01:21:55
decreased funding where fundraising used to focus on physical infrastrucuture

01:21:56
more programs like one table, community programs that are taking place in 'pods"

01:22:02
Shift to exclusively small-group engagement, serving people’s niche desires and needs.

01:22:10
staff stays the same but improved digital resources become more necessary

01:22:11
Perhaps big tech companies would get more involved? Could that produce new streams of funding?

01:22:12
We might be able to reach out to MORE individuals on-line given that geography becomes a non-issue.

01:22:18
will traditional congregational school education cease to exist?

01:22:19
Technology rules so we need to make sure we have top notch technology and people to help everyone use it.

01:22:22
more low cost, more free, pods of online communtiies

01:22:30
Layoffs, remaining staff further stretched

01:22:32
Staff and tech capacity needs to be significant investments

01:22:33
Greater need for distance based social-emotional support for individuals and family constellations.

01:22:36
collaboration amongst community organizations

01:22:40
Disengagement from staff

01:22:43
shift to virtual where those who can adapt to this see more success and and donations. a shift will need to happen in how we think about online programming to properly value it.
