Hi from the road friends!!
Sharyn Bovat
19:04
hello happy to be at my first forum 😊
Jessa Brown

loving this winnebago revel, Ashis!

Drove by General RV in Huntley this past weekend and their lot which is normally FULL was only about half full. Never seen that in the past 3 years.
TJ Drudi
26:18
I went to General RV in Huntley and they said they have sold roughly 400 RVs in the last 45 days. They used to have over 600 RVs on the lot and are now under 200 in stock
Ashis Bhattacharya
26:33
I have hearing a lot about customers coming to the dealerships to buy, so while foot traffic might be light in some places, people are doing a lot of their research as well as sales negotiations on-line / virtually from what we see.
Jody Rath
27:52
Ashis - 1. when are we going to see electric/hybrid options? 2. why are rear 3-pt safety belts taking so long to implement? 3. can you please spec more robust accessories that don’t break with minimal effort eg. motorized awnings, latches, screen doors, etc.
jamesbjones
28:38
Price point revel?
Ashis Bhattacharya
28:56
Jody, consumer electric RVs are a while away, because we depend on the chassis manufacturers to give us the chassis. However, Winnebago has launched a commercial all-electric vehicle a couple of years back, so we are definitely entering the electric arena and getting familiar while we are waiting.
Sharyn Bovat
28:57
new vans are awesome
Ashis Bhattacharya
29:37
On the accessories, let me take this feedback back to our product teams. The RV industry in general has been very cost-conscious, but I don't think that is an excuse
Sharyn Bovat
29:40
my ford transits oil change $51 includes 32 item inspection (including brakes)😊
Dawn Gray
32:48
I have had a steady stream of interest from families for renting my rv. It is a 2005 and doesn't have "anchor hooks" for carseat tethering systems. Are there any recommendations for retrofitting to help insure safety for families traveling with small children?
allison williams
34:44
The vans is great for couple, but what is popular with larger families
allison williams
34:47
Like seven people.
Kirk Pellow
38:24
most of my customers here in SoCal are not using the van to cook or sleep...they are just driving it to hotels. biggest problem has been lack of space for 3-5 suitcases.
Travis
42:00
how much extra can you charge for a generator?
Weston Cordon
42:03
I feel like outdoorsy almost discourages Class A Motorhomes. Why is that?
allison williams
42:39
In travel trailers, are bunk houses a popular option to encourage rentals?
Ryan Schwecheimer
43:02
The average I see is include 4 hours per-day of use and $3 per hour of use afterwards. (for a class a)
Colin Gardiner
43:11
For generators you can charge a fee to add-on and/or have a usage based fee
Allison Lopresti
43:32
I have a lot of requests to set up trailer. how much do you charge for this service within a 50 mile radius?
Andy Rivera
44:03
I've paid $0 for camping for 2 weeks boondocking across the West in a pop-up truck camper with my 3 teens.
Jody Rath
44:08
is there a better way to buy (manufacture direct) to add to our fleet instead of buying from the dirtbag dealers?
Steve Penner
44:35
do you find that experienced RV renters move more towards the larger RV's over time?.. or is they size of the rental sticky?
Amanda Corso
44:48
Travis in my research so far I’ve seen $20 / day for generator. Do you guys have generator recommendations or solar panel recommendations?!
Milan Milenovic
45:18
Can you tell us about Roof Top Tents? Is there a strong rental demand?
S Bailey
45:25
We are getting a lot of "newbie" requests for short trips with a lot of mileage that we are turning down. Example: California to East Coast and back in 3 days. We haven't had these types of requests before but are getting daily - lots of education is needed for "rv rental" newbies on trip calculations and what a trip like this costs. They are seeing nightly rate but not understanding how long a trip takes. This can impact the next renter as it won't make it across the country in time ; )
Marco
45:48
Why is the customer service department so saturated?
Brendan Dekker (@TheDekkerTrekkers)
46:29
@colin - Do you have any data related to the popularity of DIY remodels vs. factory original? Do custom RVs rent at a higher price-point compared to others?
Colin Gardiner
48:00
Brendan, I haven’t looked at it specifically but unique is popular but depending on the added features it might not rent for more on average.
April Cumming
48:23
Hi Marco! April from Team Outdoorsy here! Wait times are not at our standard of excellence right now and we are working to aggressively hire and train more team members while keeping those high standards. We activated hiring immediately when the cancellations stopped and bookings started to surge back. We’ve already onboarded 30 new fully trained agents to customer support this month! We have team members stepping up from all departments to help assist on chats, and unlimited OT flowing to our customer support team members.
Ryan Marx
48:52
I couldn’t join at the beginning of the call, can you please make the recording available for us?
April Cumming
49:44
Hi Ryan! Yes of course! The recording of the panel will be emailed to all participants in the coming days so you can view the full discussion! :)
Kirk Pellow
50:04
is there any data that shows the how the rental demand of Class B vans declines as they get older? This would be helpful in knowing the right time to sell and buy a new one.
Pascal PILLON
50:13
Hi. We are DROPLET, teardrop camping trailer from Vancouver. www.droplet-trailer.com. We offer wholesale pricing to customers interested in renting our their unit. How can we advertise this on Outdoorsy or to wheelbase users?
April Cumming
52:10
Hi Pascal! April here from Team Outdoorsy! I recommend you reach out to Stephen on our affiliate and partnerships team at stephen@outdoorsy.com!
April Cumming
52:27
Great question and we’d love to discuss this with you more!
allison williams
53:42
We are struggling to find companies to issue insurance to us personally since we are renting. What are some options you recommend?
Kirk Pellow
53:52
when will Winnebago have self-driving vans? :)
Kate Magee
54:08
Second Allison's question -- We are struggling to find companies to issue insurance to us personally since we are renting. What are some options you recommend?
Ryan Schwecheimer
54:47

Jerrod Bonnema
54:55
Try Safeco for insurance
Clay Lambert
55:05
have any of you had requests for more life-capable RV’s? Meaning: with more robust WFH spaces and even with additional capabilities (LARGE PV deployment ~5-15kw) small/mobile maker space/workshop/etc?
Ryan Schwecheimer
55:38
Roamly is the insurance for owners personal use that you can get quoted that Outdoorsy partners with.
April Cumming
55:52
Hi Allison and Kate! April here from Team Outdoorsy! To piggyback off of Ryan’s post, I highly recommend checking out Outdoorsy’s new insurance offering for owners, Roamly: https://www.roamly.com/
Clay Lambert
55:58
When will Outdoorsy sell insurance ?
April Cumming
56:55
Hi Clay! Highly recommend checking out Roamly! :) https://www.roamly.com/
Colin Gardiner
57:22
Can also apply here: https://www.outdoorsy.com/dashboard/join-roamly
Jane McDonough
57:33
I have my policy through State Farm. They know that I rent and they're fine covering my personal use
Jennifer Ginn
57:46
We also have Safeco for our personal cars/ trucks/ camper in MT, and our policy allows us to rent. Our agent just made sure to say anyone other than those on the policy are NOT covered. Roamly said they would use Safeco for our policy anyways if we bought through them.
Werner Els
59:35
I applied at Roamly and they said they will not cover if we rent it out...
bretpberton
59:51
What is recommended for cleaning your rv
Mike Moffett
01:00:49
Along with cleaning, what about sanitizing?
S Bailey
01:00:59
Looking forward - as vehicles age and we upgrade to new units, is there a way to show renters the ratings we have earned as a company vs the individual units?
Jennifer Ginn
01:01:55
@S Bailey I agree - that would be a great feature.
April Cumming
01:03:22
Hi Bret! Linking off to Outdoorsy’s cleaning guidelines for owners here, but I also highly recommend you search the topic of “cleaning” in the Outdoorsy RV Owner Community group on Facebook. There are a lot of great ideas out there! https://www.outdoorsy.com/blog/rv-cleaning-guidelines-covid-19
S Bailey
01:04:20
I want to be able to upgrade units every 2 years but it appears we would be starting over business wise every time...I can see owners holding on to units too long for this reason
Dawn Gray
01:04:51
How to secure carseats in older model rv's that don't have "anchor hooks" for tethering?
Sharyn Bovat
01:06:55
I see a LOT cross country trips and that puts 5-6k miles so limiting my campervans to 4 per year. If they were easier to acquire I’d do more. professional van builders are SWAMPED
Tanya Wills
01:07:04
It would be great to hear how Outdoorsy is marketing against competitors. I was appalled at how many fees that RV Share is charging to renters and owners. I'm also interested in Insurance alternatives.
Sharyn Bovat
01:07:25
I’m interested in insurance too
S Bailey
01:07:53
Dawn - we personally do not rent to families with young children that need car seats...we are not willing to retrofit for a car seat - not intended for use. Families can wait until children grow out of car seat age or choose a 5th wheel. Goal is to find families with older children - there is a lot of business out there : ) Can't cater to everyone - especially safety wise.
Colin Gardiner
01:07:58

Tanya Wills
01:08:09
I'm focusing my efforts with Outdoosy, but curious how you're marketing, espcecailly online.
Tanya Wills
01:08:32
Can people just add a rider to their own insurance? One renter mentioned this. Other renters are asking.
Michael Fagan
01:08:55
Question about limiting personal liability: LLC? Other options?
Sharyn Bovat
01:08:59
hi April ... I use Roamly/safeco for two of my vans
Jody Rath
01:09:00
I tell all renters - ‘This is adventure travel. Things won’t always go perfect, and that’s the point of getting out of your comfort zone’
April Cumming
01:09:11
Awesome to hear Sharyn!
