Hello everyone, when you need assistance, please go to this site and fill out the short form: https://www.csusb.edu/academic-technology-innovation/designer-request-form

the 24/7 support, is technical support. this is not support for your specific course. So, if students have Bb problems (connection, video replay, etc.) they will be able to assist. If the student needs assistance inside your course, they still need to contact you or the design team at ATI.
Mauricio Cadavid
27:36
Does anyone have any questions?
Marcia
28:01
Not now, but thanks! mm
Ann Johnson
28:10
Can you show us how to do the subdivided sections?
parastoufeiz
37:40
What if the students are not responding to one another and just posting their individual comments?
Dabbs
40:12
Do the students get notification about discussions? Or do they have to log on and look at the discussion?
Mauricio Cadavid
41:16
Students get notifications if they choose to "subscribe" to the post. But, not commonly.
guyhepp
43:24
If a discussion board is graded, and a column is automatically entered, does the grade populate or must we enter that? Is the grading automated?
Jing Zhang
43:44
We need to grade it manually
guyhepp
43:51
Ok thanks.
Mauricio Cadavid
44:19
Grade is automatically populated in the gradecenter. You still need to manually grade it within the discussion board, but once you do, it populates in the grade center
Todd Jennings
47:15
So it creates it's own specific zoom room for the course, separate from the one he showed was assigned to me by a CSU faculty?
Mauricio Cadavid
48:55
Yes. When you create a Zoom within your course, it is unique to your course. This is to prevent having a generic Zoom room for you and then have multiple students from multiple courses login.
Mauricio Cadavid
49:38
This way, if you have the same course, but say, 3 sections, every course will have a unique Zoom room for section1, 2, and 3. This way, a student from section 2, won't accidentally login any other session.
Marcia
49:49
Are there any limitations as to how many students can participate--like a class of 300..
Mauricio Cadavid
50:37
No, there is no limit (actually 200 I believe), but there is a limit of 20 students showing on the screen.
Mauricio Cadavid
51:02
2000, not 200... sorry
guyhepp
54:20
Are your comments automatically played with each slide or must the students click on your picture?
Mauricio Cadavid
54:38
Comments will begin to play in the order they come in.
Dabbs
54:46
Is voice tread used instead of zoom? We wouldn’t do both, correct?
Mauricio Cadavid
54:52
Students can stop or jump in between
Mauricio Cadavid
55:09
VT is separate from Zoom. we don't recommend using them at the same time.
Todd Jennings
56:17
And their recordings are recorded so I can grade it later?
Mauricio Cadavid
56:21
VT is a more sophisticated way of using power point with audio. Plus it saves it on the cloud, and therefore, there is no space, size, or time limitations with Bb
Mauricio Cadavid
56:26
Hello Todd, yes. You can
Marcia
56:53
So this is for asynchronous lectures that are recorded and they can view anytime?
Mauricio Cadavid
57:08
Todd, and the faculty can download the videos to access offline. Students cannot download.
Todd Jennings
57:40
And this can be organized in groups so you effectively have a group discussion recorded?
Mauricio Cadavid
58:04
Hi Todd, yes, yes you can!
Todd Jennings
58:49
have Ron show how students then record their voice to the slide show
Mauricio Cadavid
59:36
Yes, this is coming up.
guyhepp
01:00:24
Do these presentations get bogged down by storage size? Does a sound file for every slide become too cumbersome to load well at low internet speed, for example?
Jing Zhang
01:01:01
Can I use the voice thread in another online session
Mauricio Cadavid
01:01:24
Because this is all in the cloud, there is no slow down for upload or bandwith.
Jing Zhang
01:01:26
Or do I need to create it again?
Mauricio Cadavid
01:01:50
The only limitation is on the students' capacity (data, wifi connection speed, etc)
Mauricio Cadavid
01:02:13
You need to create a copy of the VT to deploy in the different section class.
Jing Zhang
01:02:29
Got it. Thanks
Mauricio Cadavid
01:02:42
Unless you consider having a global presentation to which you ask all your students in all your sessions to contribute.
Marcia
01:04:13
Is this better than turnitin?
Mauricio Cadavid
01:05:38
No Marcia. This is more limited. Turnitin is more robust,
Marcia
01:05:42
But the assignment does not populate to the grade center like Turnitin right?
Mauricio Cadavid
01:06:03
Also Turnitin has more robust feedback features
Marcia
01:06:22
Ok I will stick with TIN
Mauricio Cadavid
01:06:31
Anything that has a grade is populated into the grade center.
Mauricio Cadavid
01:07:40
What I meant to say is that "SafeAssign" is just a plagiarism check. The assignment still shows and populates in the grade center
parastoufeiz
01:09:13
Thank you. This was very helpful. I can see that this session I being recorded. Where can I find the recording?
Mauricio Cadavid
01:10:10
All the recordings of all our workshops will be available on our website. A message will go out to faculty about where to find the recordings for each workshop.
guyhepp
01:10:43
Is the annotation features compatible with an iPad and stylus? Basically can I “write” on a graded doc or should I download it as a PDF and do it outside Blackboard?
heather
01:10:47
This works for papers, but isn't that great for Physics homework. Is there a way to create a grading rubric
Mauricio Cadavid
01:11:24
Yes, you can create a Rubric. I actually give a 60 minute workshop on how to use rubrics in Blackboard
Mauricio Cadavid
01:11:41
I'll be happy to meet with you to walk you through using Rubrics
Mauricio Cadavid
01:12:21
Hello Guyhepp. Yes, you can use an ipad to use the stylus for hand written comments.
Marcia
01:13:29
And one more thing about the voice thread --how would students ask questions about the recorded audio again?
guyhepp
01:15:37
FYI, you can upload previously written questions as long as they are formatted correctly. There are online generators that can help with this.
Mauricio Cadavid
01:16:12
Hello everyone, this is the test generator we recommend:

ATIdesigners@csusb.edu
01:20:43
Hi Marcia, for Voice Thread, students would click on the audio and click on the arrow at the bottom to ask questions or post a comment.
ATIdesigners@csusb.edu

For questions and/or assistance with your course needs, please contact our office (ATI) at 909.537.7439 and ask to speak with an instructional designer. We are here to help you.
heather
01:26:22
can you access a test that you build in one blackboard course and deploy it in another course?
Marcia
01:28:11
So then you would be using the voice thread synchronously at the hour of the course to be able to field their questions?
Marcia
01:29:19
There is a way to load test questions aleady created in word?
Todd Jennings
01:30:22
When does the zoom meeting start? Stay tuned to this zoom meeting?
guyhepp
01:30:37
Thanks, this was helpful!
Ann Johnson
01:31:05
Thank you so much.
