High-Leverage Leadership: Systems Thinking in a Crisis with David Stroh & Marilyn Paul - Gallery view
Know where that is!
This talk already contains so much richness! Thank you! 🙏🏼
Yes, thank you! : )
We talked about locally
I think kCalifornia’s Great Plates Delivered is trying to do just that.
Founding Farmers in DC has recently pivoted to market and grocery. The Farmers Restaurant Group (of which Founding Farmers is a part) was specifically setup to help North Dakota Farmers get their food to market in a farm to table.
we have a lot of popup meal sites using restuarants with private donations
Yes. “Pace” has neutral valence. “Delay” has a negative valence
It’s so wonderful to see how much David’s work has continued to grow since his most excellent book! Seeing excellence get even better is so inspiring!
Excellent Distinction--pace vs delay
I also like that it’s “structural” pace so we’re not focusing on time but the underlying structure of the system
Thanks for noting that Patricia. Agreed!
and 50/61 at a choir practice got infected.
That person no longer attends that church!
That was a very efficient individual.
what if you could have that "R-knot factor" for positive social change and positive impact?
"pay it forward"
r knot for viral memes, videos, products..
"Growing Edge" is a compassionate term (vs. "weakness")
+1 Danica. interesting thought
"R-naught" for social change
I am curious if you are integrating the Mussar framework of character development into this thinking.
Amy Elizabeth Fox
I love the rethinking of personal development as a collective practice and task.
Thanks, @Amy — that’s a wonderful way to thinking about the collective practice of growth.
Distinguishing “nourishment” from “rest”
Not all rest nourishes... e.g. Netflix :)
Not just rest…deep rest.
I find the Sabbath my best renewal time
I so enjoy seeing how you embody this sense of deep nourishment and presence as you talk about deep rest, Marilyn.
I notice the same Patricia. Even the pace of Marilyn and David’s speech
For years I told myself “some day I’ll keep the Sabbath.” Some day, when I’m able. And then one day, I said “this week,” now, no more story. “Just do it!”
Yes! An invitation to create and perform rituals
A great presentation at so many levels. TY Marilyn, David & Amy for caring & nourishing us. Have another commitment.

Thank you so much for today - enjoyable and inspirational - have to go to another appointment I am afraid
To protect time, I tell them I'm in meetings (which are really with myself, they just don't know that)
I have been able to build the boundaries by letting others know in advance what my availability is and after time they came to accept
Amy Elizabeth Fox
Savor your experience. Such a beautiful invitation.
Setting aside time to create this kind of oasis constitutes a real sacrifice in the truest etymological sense of the word: facere = make, sacer = holy. Make it holy!
Savor…can then leak over into the rest of week!
Thank you! Very inspiring and wise. I need to leave…

As some people are needing to go at the top of the hour let me just remind everyone that this session will be permanently archived on the Mobius Cares portion of our website along with earlier seminars and other COVID related resources. Please share widely.
How could deeper rest and renewal benefit you now? What additional time would you like to protect?Which gateway would most enhance your experience of rest and renewal?Begin and endProtect and prepareDisconnect to connectSlow down to savorLet go of achieving to rest, reflect and play

Such a rare chance to focus our shared intelligence on oasis time….beautiful. Lets enjoy everyone.
Thank you so much

Thank you! This feels so relevant, wise. Need to go.
I would like to speak!
let go of achieving
I feel energized— I honor the gifts and shifts of the pandemic
Can learn to operate at the pace of of the system, the structural pace of change…More patience.
i have a story re keeping quiet time pristine in a fortune 100
I’m committing to taking an Oasis in Time on Saturday AM’s -
In my breakout group 13 there was a question about contemplation vs meditation - here’s a link I found helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0o5J0-8OA0
Rituals are a powerful way to enter the oasis...prayer, reverie, meditation, observing nature.....
This has helped me create a new perspective on how we are thinking in my daily pursuits
Recommitting to start my day with dance
Rituals for Rest and Renewal - R3
Thank you David, Marilyn and Amy! Greatly helpful and the most helpful to be reminded that building character and deep rest… is a foundational element. Thank you
Our conversation reminded me of the fact that my parents unconsciously role modeled working after work. I had never thought of how much I paid attention to that and made it part of my own life. so that my trying to fit 10lbs into a 5 lb bag is a result of this.
Fabulous. thank you
can we shift to 4 days of work to distribute employment opportunities more broadly
Thank you so much! Great distinctions and perspectives.
Thank you so much David and Marilyn. God bless
Thanks so much for the concept of stop day!
I really enjoyed the breakout session!
Thank you Marilyn, David & Amy. Highly appreciated this session and all your work. Best, Monika
My kids (2 and 5) often feel like insurmountable obstacles to the kind of oases we’ve been discussing. But a habit to cultivate that could create a structural difference in our family’s understanding of, willingness to, even ability to provide each other relaxation is persistent explanation of *why* we all need rest. The expectation that a five-year-old raging extrovert will let me relax when I want it without shifting something structural is magical thinking on my part.
Yes to a 4 day work week!
Thank you so much …
Productivity can be a trap. We do too much, make too much. A better life is a more aware life
