We are so glad that an SBA rep will be on. Perhaps they can explain what is the plan B for EIDL loans (closing and disbursement of funds is on hold because of PR bureaucracy and the fact that no DRC's are open. We can't even access the funds from our approved EIDL loan for the earthquakes in January, as they have closed down until things "return to normality"). Help, please!

PR started taking contingencies earlier, so I believe we are ahead and had the benefit to learn from others experience. I see we are keeping numbers low, and should be able to capitalize on this. The lock down will work and will be back to out businesses soon. Viruses don't last forever the human body develop good defense to fight them.
Nemroditz Hernandez
01:01:23
OMG lodging
Rodney Soler
01:01:49
hopefully dude! are we going to have any benefit after the $500. that the Main land is sending.?
Ashley Wright
01:04:55
thanks @Carla Campos, will do! @Ivan Rodriguez, we fully agree! @Rodney Soler, there is so much available per the SBA and the CARESAct, but only to the 50 states and to not to Puerto Ricans at this time because of PR laws and bureaucracy. Both the SBA and PR together need to figure out how to support small businesses, and either waive or work within the legal requirement of having an abogado/notary witness loan closing documents. Without that none of the SBA and CARESAct funds will be available to PR small businesses until it's too late and we are all out of business already. Our company is still waiting for the funds for our approved EIDL disaster loan from the earthquakes. Their current answer is to wait until things "return to normality" and to send a link to apply for a coronavirus disaster loan, which won't close until "normality". Not much help when we're in the midst of a disaster. ;(.
Jose Rafols
01:05:44
Excellent initiative by these two corporations. Our politicians in PR should do the same thing.
Ivan Rodriguez
01:07:37
Most of small companies like mine, have learned and manage to survive with any other help. However, if those benefits are available and doable . . . it might be a good help for everyone
Ashley Wright
01:08:52
@ivan rodriguez, fully agree! We didn't take out loans for Maria, but we want to keep our people employed and thriving, and if the aid is there, we should be able to access it. As you say.....good help for everyone! ;)
Ivan Rodriguez
01:10:32
@ashley keep things in your business just as before, not happening. We all need to manage this, and some people will be affected. Unfortunately.
Ashley Wright
01:12:51
@ivan rodriguez, oh we know, of course! We are working reduced hours and doing everything we can, like everyone else out there, while exploring every possible avenue and resource that is available to us. Please help, PR and SBA! and everyone else, stay safe and at home!!
Eileen Ochart
01:16:23
Ivan Rodriguez
01:19:22
@Ashley Wright, I hope you can manage your situation. In Sail San Juan Bay, we are shut down and happy to have some spare days to do anything but working 7 days. We need to spread positivism. There is way too much negative incomplete information around and it is just impacting our people negatively and just contributing to anxiety.
Ivan Rodriguez
01:19:55
I believe we will be out working by full by June

Thank you for this initiative!
Ashley Wright
01:21:47
@ivan rodriguez, I fully agree and we are positive and working hard to keep our clients positive as well as we do our jobs to stay home. This isn't negative incomplete info - it's a fact that the SBA can't close on EIDL disaster loans in PR under the current lockdown. That needs to change. Thanks everyone for all you do!! And stay safe!
Carlos Paralitici
01:22:01

01:26:59
Ivan Rodriguez
01:27:32

Tourism is a natural way for everybody to relax and be away from work for a while, it won't stop that easy for a tropical US island so easily reachable like PR. Be positive that not much will have to be done to bring tourism back. Believe or not I'm still having sales! keep up the hope

I understand the seriousness of the situation and have hundreds of my Surfing and Beach Sector that are ready to come back to Puerto Rico as soon as these restrictions are over. I have been in the beach sector over 50 years in Puerto Rico and have a lot of insite of hundreds of visitors ready to hit the Airlines button when we are open for business. We want to represente PR in Promoting this in Beach and Surfing Activities in July and August in Virgina beach and New Jersey. Our company has been working with this sector for over 7 years and I personally have over 50 years of promoting and developing Surfing in Puerto rico. We are available for meeting to express our plans and ideas for the Beach and Surfing Industry. We have done research and estimate that the surfing industry was bringing to Puerto Rico over 400 Million dollars a year last couple of years. I have been working the Surfing Community for over 50 years in Puerto Rico. We are ready to go but want some backing from mainstream businesses.

Veronica Ferraiuoli
02:31:32
Norma Carrión— the tax credits provided for both emergency leaves are applicable to the self-employed, under the same conditions they apply to employees. The refundable tax credit is applied to the income tax paid to PR, if the person does not file federal taxes.
Veronica Ferraiuoli
02:32:04
Mariana Iriarte— that is correct.
Mariana Iriarte

Gracias Norma!

Tony Santiago— the tax credits are only available for emergency FMLA leave. Regular FMLA continues as usual.

I think the situation is that there is tour guides that have their own company but also work as freelance for other providing their service or also work for other companies to makes ends meet. This is highly common in the touristic sector. Example: person that works as in entry level job in a hotel and also provides transportation service and also has a small business.
Margaret Ramirez
04:25:54
Ver Secc.
Jaime Rodriguez

Approximately 40,000 SME owners will be able to complete the application available through our portal www.refuerzoeconomico.com to obtain $ 1,500 that will help them meet certain needs in the face of business closings to prevent the spread of Covid-19. For this, we established an easy and accessible process, so that the applicant can complete the online form and include the merchant's registration, among other specific personal and business information required to process the disbursement of financial aid. Unlike the process established to incentivize southern SMEs, this time the applicant will be able to carry out the process online, without needing to appear in person to collect the application or deliver the check
Yamile Robles
04:40:11
Norma Carrion

To Charles Conroy: Sir you came to Puerto Rico, a Spanish speaking country to do business and work, please suggest you learn Spanish quickly or get a personal translator. Making dual presentations duplicates presentation time…I think the Secretary complied. No sarcasm necessary by asking if in the Spanish session English slides will be presented
Yamile Robles
04:47:45
Ahí mezclaron ambas cosas y me confundió.

Why do we not let them know this is a primarily English call not Spanish as a primary? Or will we have a true English call on another day ? This is important but we are missing too much vital information because it’s being conducted in Spanish.
Anabel Rodriguez
05:09:16
I don't think that information is correct. Eveything is full rate por first three reasons are capped at $511 and the second three reasons are capped at $200. the 2/3 compensation comes into play in the Expanded FMLA benefits
Carlos Paralitici
05:09:23
Phil, all of the tour operators in PR know English, but obviously in PR we prefer to receive the info in Spanish. You should, as well as Charles Conroy, designate a bit of time to learn Spanish as you work in a mostly Spanish speaking island and work in and industry that mainly requires both languages. #beingbilingualrules
