Hi, this is Dorothy Nuckols with UMD Extension. Just wanted to share that I just started partnering with our 4-H Youth Development educators in Howard County to offer a personal finance program for teens and tweens called Smart Cents. It is a 10 session program, designed for ages 9-13, and draws on parent involvement during certain segments. While it was created to be an in-person workshop, these times call for some creativity, and I am now offering it live on-line. (Zoom, of course!) The program uses activities and discussion to teach financial decision making, goal setting, spending and saving, and more. There is no charge thanks to a grant we received. If anyone would like to partner to offer this to youth they work with, email me at dnuckols@umd.edu

We are developing safe, healthy at-home student service learning activities for our youth. They complete activities and we give them SSL hours that are credited by our school system. Students have a sense of personal agency and they rack up SSL hours for graduation.
