NHDOE COVID-19 Discussion
We will be starting shortly
if there was a State or National “shelter in place order” ; what would that mean for education in NH?
I think the guidance out of Massachusetts is for teachers/staff to not have any face to face contact with students. Do you know how they are providing special services?
What are folks doing regarding school nurses?
1. EF Tour Refunds, seems to be a stumbling block for parents.
SAU16 has asked its school nurses to contact Exeter Hospital to see how they can help screen employees and incoming patients. It is their wheelhouse.

Hourly employees after April 3 if remote working is limited, any written guidance?
In Massachusetts, the order is enrichment only which absolves districts from delivering special education services for the time being.
Corinne we’ve budgeted for them, so we are paying them their standard weekly pay for the duration of the school year regardless of the disrupted academic calendar.

We have 6 nurses, rotating one in District each day the others on call. Created an online triage form as parents or staff report symptoms, they will get the forms and contact via phone if necessary and help direct folks what they need to do.

When will the Governor and NHDOE take up the issue of extending the remote learning period beyond April 3rd? The more notice that we have, the better we can plan for what now seems like an inevitable move.
Can you review how we determine if a student is present or absent for the day and the requirement for daily assessment?

When will NHDOE make a decision on cancelling statewide testing for 2020? Many states, including Missouri, Texas and Florida, have already done so.
Trump - just cancelled all requirements for State Tests
Is there a specific form to obtain permission from parents to record classes or do we generate our own?
I am on the DHHS Statewide Health Assessment team. We met this morning. Lisa Morris leads it (DHHS Director of Public Health). One need in the state will be for nurses that can re-deployed to DHHS to assist with monitoring of active cases. The State has already re-deployed their internal resources, but I have offered to connect with supers/DOE to re-deploy our nurses when needed. I am meeting with them on Monday and will no more. Christine Brennan is also on that team with me and will be helpful in coordinating.
Beginning March 30, We are rolling out additional "non-academic" activities to help kids feel continually connected with their advisories, clubs/teams, other activities.

Are Districts guaranteed that remote learning days will count toward hours/days on our school calendar. I think yes based on what the NHDOE has said but Board members keep asking so written confirmation would be helpful.
Can we bill Medicaid when we are doing remote learning?
Can Becky do the a call for Private Providers as she is doing for Special Ed Directors?
Some guidance came out yesterday for Tele services and Medicaid billing…..
Do we have any information about non public schools running preschool/childcare and the likelihood of a mandated closure for all except essential personnel families (health care, law enforcement families)
Please speak to the three 3 recertification process.
What flexibility to Superintendent’s have there?
#NHLearnsRemotely on Twitter https://twitter.com/hashtag/nhlearnsremotely?src=hash
What is the status of NHSAS testing?
Bureau of Credentialing is on hold for now, as per their auto-response email. Will there be flexibility in hiring educators whose certification is pending but backed up? That’s what I’m hoping for.
With the president recently announcing the he is canceling all standardized testing, are we able to notify our community
Making sure everyone is aware that unless you have done something to change settings or cover your camera, you are visible…while eating, break dancing, playing with your hair or scratching your nose… =)
Can we also get a potential waiver for special education timelines, as well? This continues to be an issue. And there is conflicting information that we are receiving from OCR and OSEP.

I have to say that I don't really think that, across the state, we are truly providing 'remote instruction' for all - we are providing 'remote learning opportunities' but many families are unable to engage to the level that would in my view be considered actual instruction.
Lisa A. Witte
Some folks may be able to better do that in their regions. But it's not all.
Lisa A. Witte
I think the main goal is to maintain connections with families and students
Lisa A. Witte
I did not get that email

Let us know if you need a custom letter.
Tracy Pond is from Child Care Aware
Grant could you email us all a letter to tour companies in general?
are the school trips cancelled for the remainder of the year or until this crisis has passed?
If you have a touch free thermometer you wouldn’t mind lending to the State of New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management, please email Marjorie.Schoonmaker@doe.nh.gov.
We can draft a letter for broad use and post to the COVID resources page by late afternoon: https://www.education.nh.gov/who-we-are/commissioner/covid-19
USED March 12, 2020 Fact Sheet references states completing a one year waiver of assessment requirements under section 1111(b)(2) of the ESEA. I understand the Federal Partners are working - I am wondering if the state is going to file for the one year waiver.
We have had a request from one of our smaller towns to use the school to quarantine police and fire who are infected with the virus. I can’t recommend this to that Board, given the April 3rd end date for remote learning. It is very important to our communities that, if we are to extend the remote learning period, we do it soon (now)!

Speech therapy was not included in that document about Medicaid reimbursement any info as to why?
For educator credentialing issues or questions please call Steve Appleby @ 603-271-2408 or email me at email@example.com.
Jen, neither was OT or PT.
EIS will be back up early in the week,
Thank you, Becky. Please let us know.
Also for credentialing ALT candidates needing to take the math praxis but they have cancelled Praxis testing. Could that become part of their plan if everything else is in place?
FYI Homeland Security didn't send out the alert. t If you have a touch free thermometer you wouldn’t mind lending to the State of New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management, please email Marjorie.Schoonmaker@doe.nh.gov.
If a sending district is not allowing video conferencing but a private provider is planning to use it for specially designed instruction, do we need to follow district policy?
Lisa A. Witte
My high school is a primary POD location during an emergency - not mobilized at this point but potential exists
For the ALT candidate with Math praxis due please reach out to the Bureau of Credentialing
Can you advise about plans regarding the non-renewal deadline of 4/15?
For the non renewal date of 4/15 and educators on a plan please reach out to Steve Appleby directly to discuss how we can help
I would ask that if there are calls such as this, with charter schools, as they are also public schools and have strong ties to the neighborhood schools, that we are all invited to the same call.
You just mentioned a separate call with private providers and nonpublic and charters….?
When will that call be…I am sorry; I missed it and have not received notification as a non-public school
I just wanted to say thank you for the consistent and thorough communication from DOE end as well as the various questions and comments from folks. It has been a tremendous help bringing up things we may not have considered as well as helping guide short term as well long term planning. Great job.
Who will reach out to nonpublic?
Kudos to the DOE
how will my sped team at my charter school know about the sped call?
Thanks for holding these calls regularly.
Amy Clark --Facilities managers call
Is there a schedule for all of these calls somewhere?
Using state contract to get janitorial supplies https://www.education.nh.gov/who-we-are/commissioner/cleaning-supplies
Thank you Superintendents for sharing and communicating so that we can help support you during this time.
I have a question about the volume of work for students during remote instruction. During Blizzard Bags the goal was to aim for the equivalent of a half-day of instruction. Does this apply to the Emergency Rule and our current situation?
You must use state contact # with vendor to use state contract.
All calls are being populated as we speak on http://www.nhlearnsremotely.com/calendar.html
Does this apply to non-public schools as well?
Does that state contract purchasing apply to nonpublic schools as well?
Can you please send the facilities meeting link to superintendents? I want to make sure my facilities person has that meeting
State contract number for charters?
And please send facilities meeting time to charter schools!
Municipal subdivsions and non-profits can use state contract. Just cite contract number with the vendors. They may be out of backed up, but they should treat you as part of the state contract.
What is the contract number?
We have posted the state contracts, which have vendor names. When you call them, let them know you are ordering under the state contract.
Each vendor has its own contract. You need to cite that document when calling them. Link here: https://www.education.nh.gov/who-we-are/commissioner/cleaning-supplies
Thank you Grant!
you are doing a fabulous job.
Thank you for all of your thoughtful communication and support. :-)
