if there was a State or National “shelter in place order” ; what would that mean for education in NH?

I think the guidance out of Massachusetts is for teachers/staff to not have any face to face contact with students. Do you know how they are providing special services?

What are folks doing regarding school nurses?

SAU16 has asked its school nurses to contact Exeter Hospital to see how they can help screen employees and incoming patients. It is their wheelhouse.

Hourly employees after April 3 if remote working is limited, any written guidance?

In Massachusetts, the order is enrichment only which absolves districts from delivering special education services for the time being.
David Ryan
22:06
Corinne we’ve budgeted for them, so we are paying them their standard weekly pay for the duration of the school year regardless of the disrupted academic calendar.
Lisa A. Witte
22:22
We have 6 nurses, rotating one in District each day the others on call. Created an online triage form as parents or staff report symptoms, they will get the forms and contact via phone if necessary and help direct folks what they need to do.

When will the Governor and NHDOE take up the issue of extending the remote learning period beyond April 3rd? The more notice that we have, the better we can plan for what now seems like an inevitable move.

When will NHDOE make a decision on cancelling statewide testing for 2020? Many states, including Missouri, Texas and Florida, have already done so.

Is there a specific form to obtain permission from parents to record classes or do we generate our own?
Adam Steel

I am on the DHHS Statewide Health Assessment team. We met this morning. Lisa Morris leads it (DHHS Director of Public Health). One need in the state will be for nurses that can re-deployed to DHHS to assist with monitoring of active cases. The State has already re-deployed their internal resources, but I have offered to connect with supers/DOE to re-deploy our nurses when needed. I am meeting with them on Monday and will no more. Christine Brennan is also on that team with me and will be helpful in coordinating.

Are Districts guaranteed that remote learning days will count toward hours/days on our school calendar. I think yes based on what the NHDOE has said but Board members keep asking so written confirmation would be helpful.

Can we also get a potential waiver for special education timelines, as well? This continues to be an issue. And there is conflicting information that we are receiving from OCR and OSEP.
Lisa A. Witte
33:44
I have to say that I don't really think that, across the state, we are truly providing 'remote instruction' for all - we are providing 'remote learning opportunities' but many families are unable to engage to the level that would in my view be considered actual instruction.
Lisa A. Witte
34:03
Some folks may be able to better do that in their regions. But it's not all.

USED March 12, 2020 Fact Sheet references states completing a one year waiver of assessment requirements under section 1111(b)(2) of the ESEA. I understand the Federal Partners are working - I am wondering if the state is going to file for the one year waiver.

We have had a request from one of our smaller towns to use the school to quarantine police and fire who are infected with the virus. I can’t recommend this to that Board, given the April 3rd end date for remote learning. It is very important to our communities that, if we are to extend the remote learning period, we do it soon (now)!

I would ask that if there are calls such as this, with charter schools, as they are also public schools and have strong ties to the neighborhood schools, that we are all invited to the same call.
Catherine Woods
55:45
YES!
Becky Forrestall
56:24
You just mentioned a separate call with private providers and nonpublic and charters….?

I have a question about the volume of work for students during remote instruction. During Blizzard Bags the goal was to aim for the equivalent of a half-day of instruction. Does this apply to the Emergency Rule and our current situation?
Grant.D.Bosse
58:50
You must use state contact # with vendor to use state contract.

State contract number for charters?

Grant.D.Bosse
01:00:07
Municipal subdivsions and non-profits can use state contract. Just cite contract number with the vendors. They may be out of backed up, but they should treat you as part of the state contract.

01:00:07
thanks
sleavitt

What is the contract number?
Grant.D.Bosse

We have posted the state contracts, which have vendor names. When you call them, let them know you are ordering under the state contract.
Grant.D.Bosse
