How are you close captioning all of the recorded lectures?
How are you handling activity courses such as physical education courses, music lessons, music ensembles, etc.? Thank you.
If you are using Kaltura for capturing video, there's a captioning feature (though a human needs to double check it)
Melissa Diers, M.Ed
University of Nebrasa Medical Center is using CC / transcription via Echo360.
What about courses such as swimming, tennis, etc.?
We are interested to learn how you might be dealing with experiential learning such as labs, internships, practicums, etc.
How are you handling courses that require facilities on campus - such as organic chemistry labs or ceramics studios?
can you please share the list?
Patty would you repeat who is requiring those specifications for simulations?
Would our friends from Rosalind Franklin be able to share the information related to accreditation for all participants? Thanks
What are people thinking about commencement?
Do you have students studying abroad? Are you recalling any of them?
Our clinics are conserving supplies for fully licensed providers.
We are in the middle of several executive (e.g., dean) searches and many faculty/staff searches. For those that are likely to move classes online, are you planning to also suspend searches?
We are also hoping for guidance on match day.
Patty can you discuss guidance for faculty overseas in currently affected areas. Are they being allowed to teach remotely, how is the time difference being managed, etc.
Can we copy the questions in the chat and share! These are great!
We are not suspending searches
Illinois is also doing this - it is a federal directive.
The University of Nebraska Medical Center has also cancelled international travel for the Spring and bringing students home who are abroad.
This being the report to state departments of health. They sent us the directive.
We are restricting attendance of Match Day to only students and faculty.
Our campus will be on spring break next week. Are other campuses considering teaching remotely for two weeks after break?
There may also be more state travel restrictions coming soon.
We have wondered the same thing with regards to interviews. Also visiting professorships and other activities.
For medical colleges and other health professions, has there been any discussion about how to handle licensing exams that require travel to certain locations (i.e., NBME, ABMS)?
I don't know what the resources of the organization are - can we have a central information hub regarding continuity of education for students, etc.
Patty--I can add info about travel
United will waive rebooking fee if you call, even if you booked before 3/1. We are working to compensate for unrecoverable expenses.
great information about United Beth, thank you.
Can you please explain the purpose(s) of the survey you mentioned?
Any ideas on people who can't, seemlingly, work from home (dining, facilities, etc)? We are concerned that we allow most people to work remotely, but not all workers can.
Should we have a blanket policy on course evaluations?
Would you be able to share a copy of the survey? thanks!
We have plans for quarantine in place, alternate locations, and then...hope we don't have that many positives
Do we want to reconvene in a week?
Do we forsee issues with financial aid should classes be cancelled?
Any campuses considering remote learning before the situation requires it in their area?
Hi Kelly, you may know this but the DOE released language supporting flexibility for courses moving to other modalities related to FA. Cancellations were not included.
You did a great job, Patricia! Thank you so much!

I am a physician. Do you understand the process of this disease or would you like some
Is anyone creating surveys for students to determine their access to remote instruction?
Thanks Connie. I just saw that come across! will take a look
Are institutions going to allow grant-funded research to continue (on campus)?
Great idea to survey students now.
Please share if someone has a good survey.
Thank you Patty - I appreciate your facilitating this meeting. Very informational - well done.
How are people dealing with organism care that must take place even if the university closes (animals, cell cultures, plants)?
We are not thinking about a closing, but perhaps moving to non face-to-face classes. In that case, research could continue.
Thank you Patty--very informative!
Thanks so much!
