What are the next steps when you request your NPA aide in the home and they give you a PWN stating no they cannot come in the home?
Paula West-Hernandez
54:04
can you talk about SB117 in California and the impact to the need to provide the assessment timeline within the required time frame how that has changed? Can you also please talk about uniform complaints in how they are being addressed now especially regarding the scheduling of annual and try annual IEP‘s in California?

My daughter has developed severe zoom anxiety. What accommodations are recommended for this? For kindergarten last year, they recommended to just “skip the zoom meetings.” Since this year’s curriculum is so zoom dependent, I have no idea how to approach this.
Michelle Tam

My school district mentioned that they will provide a written, Individualized Instructional Plan (IIP) that implements my child's IEP, to the extent possible, during the COVID-19 response. Can you speak to the IIP? Also, how to interpret "to the extent possible"? Following up on this, my signed IEP states that my child will have 1000 minutes class time a week (pre-Covid), now the school has decided to offer about 200 minutes a week via Zoom. What options do I have if I disagree?

Great presentation! We now have new diagnostic info (from a neuropsych eval as of 4/2020) that will likely impact the goals of current IEP. Do I wait until my Nov meeting or do I request an IEP meeting now?
Brianna Bruce
01:18:32
My IEP was done Feb 2020, it says its not due until next Feb2021. do we need to update because covid is changing these goals that are not realistic? or do I have to wait?
Susana Macias
01:19:26
There was recently an orientation with the school principal. I asked what is going to happen to IEP's. He responded that the district is working on it but they have nothing concrete and school starts next week. Should I call an IEP meeting?
Brianna Bruce
01:23:19
We are going from public to charter, do I do IEP through the charter school public? and laws abide to them to? Is there question and accommodations list for covid that has advice on whatr I can change on IEP that can make him advance ? I cant even think of anything that can help get my child to even get through this?
karla diaz
01:25:45
what do you suggest we ask for on the IEP when most of the goals are social goals and behavioral? What services can be provided to meet these goals?
Michelle Tam
01:26:59
My child is in pre-K. We already lost half of the sesmester during Spring 2020. If we find Fall 2020 not effective, can we pull him out from school and focus on ABA, and return to preK next year? In short, if we delay preK for a year, I keep hearing no from the school district. He will have to go to kindergarten. Is it true? I don't want to just push him through the school system when he's not ready and the method of delivery is ineffective due to Covid limitation.

The LAUSD-specific tutoring is only one curriculum, StepUp, I think. It’s not tailored to most special ed students.

Public charter schools provide IEP services. Each charter is different in how good they are at the services. I'm not sure how the PSA work in regard to services.

My child’s experience with distance learning was dismal. How do I go about asking the district for funding distance learning through a private school for children with autism that is more successful with special needs? Will it be an issue that the desired DL program is based in LA?
