All of these options are PROPOSED and may not occur, but there are some extreme fiscal challenges so we must be clear about how they impact us IF they were to be enacted.

With covid-19 being an ongoing concern and some of the DSHS budget managing large institutional care settings, is there going to be a reduction in the states dependency on congregate care environments? The current budget proposals with ALTSA and DDA showcased 1 option each: closure of Rainier School and the rental assistance to move people out of nursing homes.

Is the 1 billion loss from WA employment security fraud included in the 7 billion deficit or will it increase the deficit?
ivanova Smith
57:07

Margaret Cassady
57:24
Hi Michelle, as I understand, fortunately state has recovered $300+ million from the fraud so far, so hopefully this will help.

Do you think with COVID still going on probably for the next year with off and on risk will we need to look at additional revenue sources to avoid even more cuts?
Margaret Cassady
01:01:14
Bryce, it sounds like it would be helpful if we give you personal/agency anecdotes about how the proposed cuts would affect the I/DD folks we know, so would you please share your address?

great work Bryce

01:08:41
how do we figure who losing services and how do we support those who lose their DDA?
Melissa Lund, Kitsap County Parent Coalition
01:08:45
The WA State Parent Coalition has an "I Vote DD" campaign that reminds legislators there is a voting block of people w/DD, their friends, caregivers, and families who will watch how our leaders decide on budget cuts and the like. This type of campaign, combined with video testimonials, letters, phone calls, and emails could bring the concerns of the DD community to the forefront.
Christina Ryan
01:08:53
We were denied waiver cause it took us too long to even get into DDA. We were supposed to reapply in June/July.
Christina Ryan
01:09:50
that's my kiddo she qualifies but not able to get services completely because of new room
ivanova Smith
01:11:34
this why we need more programs that use universal design principles that way people who lose DDA have atleast something to help
ivanova Smith
01:15:00
that awful
Margaret Cassady
01:15:11
I'm really having trouble hearing Diana--she keeps cutting out. I wonder if multiple attendees have their video on? Sometimes that interferes.
Colin Guthrie
01:15:42
What I see, and deal with as a professional is when services are not there, abuse of the person is extremely high, up to 95% chance of being physically, sexually abused and being neglected.
Shawn Latham
01:19:39
I would just add ALTSA may change Eligibility changes so up to 20,000 may loose home care.
