Was the same process employed for the makeup exam to the MS2s as is in process for the upcoming finals for MS2s?
Tommy
14:44
According to the current DHM calendar, the name of the exam is "DHM Final Exam Postponed". Is it postponed again?
Lisa Elferink
15:05
no it has not
Lisa Elferink
15:55
April 16 is the date for the final DHM exam
carolinekelly
16:06
Can anyone comment on calculator and lab value capabilities for the final exams?
Kristy Spicer
16:21
What will be the new passing requirements for the POM cognitive component?
Sama Elrahi
16:41
If the DHM makeup midterm is any indication, our exam grades are going to be lower than usual. Luckily we are pass/fail, but I know this is worrying many of us. Is there a way to exclude these classes from consideration in scholarship apps and other merit awards, to ease people's worries about doing well and just focus on standard competence during this difficult time?
Tommy
16:52
Has the zoom midterm exam review been updated? The one posted on the announcement is only a minute long

For all 4 classes?

Is this current ‘normal’ location or where we are during this COVID stay-at-home order?
Kristy Spicer

When will the EBM grades for DHM be released?
Daniel Bradford

The feedback from students who took the make-up exam yesterday was that it did not meet the standards that faculty and staff promised it would meet-- there were duplicated questions, questions with too little context, and a focus that deviated from boards material. What measures are being taken to avoid the pitfalls from the make-up, and can you address the resulting loss of trust that has been expressed to me? Additionally, there is a growing consensus among the class not to use these exams to calculate grades for the purposes of scholarships, awards, etc.

Thank you, Dr. Elferink
Katie Ferry
20:13
Do we know when our POM exam will be administered? Like a specific time such as 8:30 am or do we have all morning to take it?
Victoria
20:23
Are there any updates on how 3rd year rotations will be handled? When will these decisions need to be made by?
Shayla
21:13
As someone who took the midterm, I am concerned that we are using the same process for the final exam because there were several oversights including repeat questions, repeat answers, and questions lacking pertinent details on the midterm. Additionally, we were told our midterm would be 80 questions when it was only 60 and this is a big difference that can significantly affect success on an exams.
Kristy Spicer
24:28
I think this question was missed - What will be the new passing requirements for the POM cognitive component?
Tommy
25:43
If there is one, can a consolidated course objective word document be shared with the class? since the exam questions are going to mapped out course objects and not national board exam preparation material (ie First aid, board and beyond, etc), it would be very beneficial for us. We can make one ourselves, but I believe our time would be better spent studying the material, especially if one is already made
carolinekelly

**POM2 is April 13th

I think the question regarding POM final, was more so wondering about the time of the exam if that is known/can be shared. Thank you!

Will we have support in case of technical difficulties during the final exams?
Kristy Spicer
33:14
How do we download the proctor free software? and where is the pretesting information?
carolinekelly
33:43
Will we be given further requirements regarding our environment before Monday?
carolinekelly
33:52
(For the final exams with ProctorFree)
Kristy Spicer
34:27
no, there was an email that came out saying we were using Proctorfree and that we would need to show ID
Sama Elrahi
34:35
The link in the email just linked us to requirements but no download or way to test the system
Allessia Scribner
34:39
we were sent information about ID and about computer requirements
Tommy
35:38
Is it possible to add extra time for the exam to account to all the possible issues so have at least 90 seconds per question?
Daniel Bradford
35:55
It looks like the email didn't get sent to a MS2 global distribution list (it went out only to people on the curriculum committee)
Maddie Silva
36:23
Will the exam software have the same capabilities of marking questions for review, striking out answers, hi-lighting question parts?
Jordan Spaude
36:33
Do we know what time specifically the POM final will be? As in 8 am or 1 pm?
Carah Griffin
36:34
Will we be allowed to use noise-cancelling headphones during our exams to reduce some of the inevitable background noise? For instance, I'll be in a thin-walled apartment and have been experiencing many distractions including families, pets, lawn keeping, dumpster emptying, etc daily
Viridiana Saenz Monsivais
38:16
is there any regulation as far of using scratch paper?
Allessia Scribner
38:43
is the scratch paper required to be blank letter paper or can it be lined like notebook paper?
Tommy
40:36
Since the highlighting and striking out is an essential part of people's workflow, can extra time be added to account for this new method of test taking? The 90 seconds established by nmbe accounts for all of these factors, and it would go a long way to make students feel better. even if it's an extra 5 seconds per question.
Carah Griffin
40:43
What about an empty white board similar to the ones used during our typical exams?
Carah Griffin
41:28
Thank you!
Kristy Spicer
41:52
if we are at the desk we study at, is it bad if we have posters and cleaned white boards behind us?
Lisa Elferink
42:41
please remove posters form the walls in your immediate tea area is clean and set up for success.!

I know that the admin is still figuring out the details of Y3 rotations. however, in regards to housing can the admin. at least comment on if any changes will be made to our year round assignments? Ie. can I proceed to look for housing in Houston if I am Houston based? Last week it was mentioned that we should wait but my lease is ending soon. ..
Lisa Elferink

DHM final is April 16

For those of us who don't have printers, can we write out the lab values ourselves on a clean sheet of paper and show them to the proctor?
Hope McNatt
44:20
The lab values are included at the top of the test and can be viewed or referred to during the entire exam
Lisa Elferink
44:36
I believe that we presented the normal lab values through blackboard so there is no need for a printed copy
Lisa Elferink
44:59
Thank you Hope!

To be clear is it OK to have background noise ? My active 2 yr old son is out of daycare, but I plan to enclose myself in a room.
Lisa Elferink
47:13
You will be required to disclose this possibility during the proctor free noise check. That way as the software identifies background noise we will be able to account for this during your exam. Good luck to you and your little one!
waleed
47:25
Thank you
Viridiana Saenz Monsivais
47:36
has there been a change to the start date of 3rd year? (clinical skills)
Viridiana Saenz Monsivais
49:29
yes, Viridiana. thank you
Hope McNatt
49:38
Please also be aware that noise canceling headphones and/or ear plugs cannot have wifi capability or wires attached to them
Kristy Spicer
50:43
If the POM exam final is at 8:30, when should we aim to actually have the software up and running by? like do we need to be on 10 minutes early to do the sound disclosures?
waleed
51:13
If 3rd year is going to be delayed, will financial aid also be held up?
Viridiana Saenz Monsivais
51:25
if we take a practice exam, can we use the voucher to reimburse or valid for another test form number?
Stacy Shields

Viridiana Saenz Monsivais
51:47
the avive question is for Dr. Shields
Stacy Shields
54:02
Viridiana, you can take a practice exam on your own at anytime. But like I advised in my last email to the group of students on the original CBSE roster, you should avoid NBME form 21 until you receive your voucher from us. If, for some reason, someone has already taken Form 21, I asked students to contact me directly. Let me know if that doesn't make sense. Thanks!
Josh Bilello
54:13
Is the option to take step 1 after 3rd year being considered? There are a couple Texas schools taking this approach and there are published papers that students perform slightly better than those that take it after 2nd year. If we still have a test date in May should we move it to a later date at this time?
cerintomson
54:22
I know that students have been advised to keep their current STEP 1 date, but if the deadline is potentially getting pushed back, at what point would we be advised to reschedule/relocate?
Stacy Shields
54:34
Also, I just heard back from NBME about a possible way to expedite the release of vouchers. So keep your fingers crossed!
Michael
56:42
I came late, is STEP 1 delayed due to curriculum changes? or is it because we are concerned about uncertainty of prometric closures
Edgar Villalobos
57:02
Honestly ASCC made me rethink how I approached questions and gave me a great boost in a way I never thought of. Strongly recommend for anyone that thinks they're doing alright but thinks they can do just a little better
Kristy Spicer
57:30
will there be a 2 week quarantine when we have to return back to Galveston if we quarantined or went out of state?

Is our final still weighed at 38% ?
Lisa Elferink
01:02:43
The information regarding how to access the practice exam site in Blackboard and instructions for using Proctor Free will be released shortly - before 2.15pm. Sarah was busy today with the NHB morning examination and thanks you for your patience.

Certain cities have prometric center closures until early May but not in Texas. You can all look on the website to see the closures of the centers
