My question for Richard Bloom regards upgrading your previous legislation on whales, as the number of whales continues to increase in our region due to abundant squid population which is prey, but there is a squid fishery with bright lights and is attracting squid with lights and usurping the squid that is needed by the whales and seabirds and seals. The California Fish & Game Commission needs terminate commercial squid and so far that Commission continues to authorize and increase issuance of squid permits on our Southern California Coast off of Malibu and near the Channel Islands. Senator Ben Allen. There is a state law needed to allow the Sea Otter to be in our 5 counties of Southern California, which would overrule the Fish & Game Commission ruling and the sister Department of Fish & Wildlife that made the Sea Otter illegal due to wishes of commercial abalone fishermen. However, there are no abalone in Southern California anymore because of the fishermen, not able to blame the Sea Otter as they were banned. The public that visit our coast are robbed of the opportunity to see the Sea Otter. Can you introduce legislation to override the Commission and Department regulations? Peace, ‘Roy’

Mobile Vaccinations to communities that lack access is critical

In you supervisorial district in Sylmar, chemicals are placed around trees to kill weeds, but those chemicals hurt the trees and the tree trunks are blasted with water sprinklers night. The trees are being killed by your Department of Parks and Recreation. Weeds need to be embraced, not hated, as weeds are flowers and attract butterflies such as Monarch. Each tree a the park should have a flower bed with Milkweed plants for the Monarch, instead of chemicals to make bare ground, and then with rain, erosion occurs. You have two good women at the top of the Parks and Recreation Department and you need to guide them to do the right thing. Is that possible? Do you recommend that a woman be our next County Supervisor, so that we keep our Board of Supervisors at 5 women? I do not think there is any other one of our thousands of counties in the USA that has all 5 supervisors as women, and we ought to keep that record in Los Angeles County?

Insurance Commissioner Lara is looking at both individual and community rating based on house hardening as described in the above document. We will need subsidies for some to make the recommended changes. Look for SB 55 and 63 (hopefully including subsidies) for other wildfire protection measures.

Hi Georgia, I know R. Halsey very well and his book and writing, and you see that there is no guarantee that house will not burn if a resident clears vegetation around home. Fire retardent foam tents are 100% effect, zero failure, but again this cure is not getting out to the public as this lessens the need for costly fire prevention efforts which has become a big business, and the firefighter unions are more interested in having more firefighters and fire engines and do not wish to solve the fire issue. There is a corrupt system set up. Some firefighter even start the fires to stay employed. There is real courage and boldness in elected officials to do the true and tried use of fire retardent tents.

Seems it would be easy to have a law that not just states no rodenticides, but has still penalties for private sellers (pimps) that sell and market the poisons, not blame the homeowners that use the rodenticide poisons. I don't advocate removing native plants, instead preserve them - just add a little water to them and trim the bits of dead wood. The most important area is the first 5 feet around the house, next is 30 ft. it's described in from the house outward.

LADWP is atrocious toward nature and Indigenous Paiute peoples in Lone Pine, Bishop, Lee Vining, Mono Lake, Owens Lake. LADWP is total corrupt and no reform is coming from LA City Council. We see the Mayor praising LADWP and there is so much wrong. Let us have LADWP pay homeowners to put up solar power, not make a homeowner pay to set up the solar power. And with all the money in LADWP bank accounts this could be done very easily. And then electric cars can charge their cars without guilt at their homes at night.

Hey Nick, a bit of history. LAUSD had a nature study science program until World War II for a high school graduation requirements. After World War II with pro-chemistry and pro-nuclear power and science to make for food by pesticides and fertilizers, nature study was cancelled. Big mistake.
