DCI Districts Meeting re: COVID-19 Communications - Shared screen with speaker view
Julia Simpson (Downtown Boulder)
Hello, Everyone! This is an example of a chat. Please use this to indicate that you want to participate. You could add, “I have something to add about XYZ”, or you can type out a complete question. We’ll address your questions one at a time.
Its kat, I would talk
Can you elaborate more on Slack. How tough was it to get it organized
Hi - Lauren in COS - we’re launching an entire digital initiative called Support the Springs
Just want tos say thank you. This is so posisitive and helpful!!!!
Hi - Joe from Olde Town Arvada. Are any local governments exploring sales tax relief?
I'm curious if anyone is considering financial assistance programs? any good models?
I'd like to ask a question
To SMEEK - We're looking at options to leverage and encourage gift card sales. I've heard of Main Streets offering gift card drawings for people who buy cards and post to social. (Laramie Main Street). We've also heard of "bonus bucks" to add $5 for every $25 gift card purchased on a specific date. This additional amount could be supplemented by the local Main Street or DDA.
I'd like to also ask about financial assistance and share a few ideas we are noodling on
There was a request to local governments from Colorado Restaurant Association about potential forms of relief like sales tax holiday or waiver of penalties for late payments
BID in Durango has a new page on our website that captures the new ways businesses are operating. www.DowntownDurango.org/supportlocal
We are using WebEx meeting tomorrow. Our first will be with restaurants and craft brewers. Our second will be with retailers. We are working with our Economic Partners, meeting daily and putting together coordinated messages with all our stakeholders.
We in Leadville are working on a joint campaign with Economic Development, Chamber, Main Street program, and our Newspaper to create an ongoing campaign in our newspaper and online as well as social media campaign LeadvilleStrong.
Would like to hear about how we support our independent creators- musicians, artists, etc. that don't have store fronts-- and are not eligible for unemployment
City of Louisville has launched SupportLocal campaign to share with the community which of our businesses are open and special offers they may have available. https://www.louisvilleco.gov/business/economic-development/support-local
Local business in Leadville is matching gift card purchases to $1000 and then other businesses are looking to match as well- much like pulic radio match challenges.
sorry -- you can try me again whenever. had just stepped away for a moment
Downtown Grand Junction partnered with one of our larger businesses (Enstroms) to do a free candy giveaway with every $10 purchase. Will also be launching a gift card program where Downtown gives a $10 gift card for every $25 spent Downtown through the rest of March to create urgency. Many businesses are doing their own versions of matches as well.
Dan March Trustee with Frederick. Because of our location we have a bunch of restaurants that are located in other communities that offer take out and delivery. Is there one source that our residents could use to obtain this information?
Can we get the Durango links? I am on their website and can't see what was shared on the video share. Thank you!
BID in Durango here again … the questions I am getting now from businesses are what is next for us? They need to know about the SBA disaster loan program. How employees they lay off apply for unemployment and if they get a lot of employees applying will that impact their premiums? How does their insurance help them?

Colorado creative has grants. Boulders Arts has grants as well
We started a virtual Makers Show in Granby, CO. Encouraging artists, including students to post their art using a hashtag, so people can enjoy.
So agree about take out not sustaining businesses. Some of our leading restaurants in Durango with large followings have converted to take out, but their revenues are 5 to 10% of normal!
I have had a few of those conversations with property owners I knew would "get it".
We are I've been talking with property owners who are advocates to see if they can help spearhead
I think it is great to see if the property owners are willing to add missed rent payments to the end of the lease.
DCI could list the various communities who have these programs (based on filling out the google sheet) and send that out so people can see which communities have restaurants or online services.
DCI’s Thursday session in two weeks will look at emergency assistance to business.
The community list of programs would be awesome if DCI can coordinate. Louisville would share that with our residents for resources
For those that are doing Gift Card matches or incentives, how are you getting proof of purchase? Email receipts?
As just stated, thinking ahead... I have heard multiple times of complete shutdown for 2 weeks of the entire nation. What ideas for this?
We also all need a training on how to use ZOOM and other online meeting tools! It's new to us but it is our new normal for the time being.
To Kimberlee - I think we're going to ask retailers to provide us with emails of the folks who have purchased. Probably not the most scientific approach, but some minimal accountability step.
I just got invited to a phone call with the Governor, OEDIT's Betsy Markey and CDLE's Joe Barela for tomorrow at noon. It's a proprietary phone call, but I can let Katherine know the outcome and she can post
The Governor, Betsy, and Joe would like to provide an update on the State’s response to the impact of COVID-19 and discuss ways to further partner with you on those efforts.
In Downtown Colorado Springs we started a private group on Facebook for business owners. It’s been very active, and a great place for people to share what is going on at their business, ask questions, get connected to resources. Just mentioning it as an alternative to a Slack channel.
For Federick - work through the Carbon Valley Chamber of Commerce

Great Job DCI! Looking forward to the weekly calls to keep updated on innovative ideas
Thank you everyone. This was very helpful!
This was great thank you!
Thank you for organizing DCI!!! Very helpful
I think what's next is a larger mandatory shutdown of non-essential businesses, to further social distancing. It goes against everything we do to tell people to stay away from our businesses, but I really think that is coming next. uggggg
I represent rural Colorado (Monte Vista / San Luis Valley) and would like to hear from others in the area with their ideas.
microphone not working
Kate Cooke - Localworks
Great job DCI! Thank you!!
Downtown Boulder Partnership
I am still here! SORRY!
Carbon Valley Chamber of Commerce was suggestion for gentleman from Frederick asking about platform for Dacono, Frederick, Firestone area restaurants that want to support seniors. CV Chamber is tracking and sharing restaurant info. Town of Firestone ED is also working closely with CV Chamber
I totally agree with that point. I am also worried about that and how our come out message is counter to CDC regs
This has been great and so beneficial. Thank you!
will you be offering this webinar on DCI web site?
