I have applied for a Work Share program for my company both by mail to the address on the form, and also twice by email (encrypted email since the application requires employee information) and have not heard back. Is there something else I should be doing / will I hear back if there is a problem with our application?
Carole

28:14

Carole
28:31
Will the employee get the full $600 if they are part time?
Brian
28:37
What is CO doing to prevent employees from getting unemployment when there is work available for them at their current employer? As an essential business taking care of seniors, we can not function without our care staff. With the added US govt unemployment benefits it may be too inviting for people to try to get unemployment at the tax payer and employer expense.
MVB

In the past when an employee has separated from my business and applied for unemployment, I’d be contacted with questions. No one from Dept of Labor has contacted me about any of the employees that have filed since March. Has that step changed? Will I have to confirm that someone was laid off vs. quit?
Jessi
34:57
We have been enrolled in Work Share since 3/22, but my staff hasn't received a distribution check yet. When should those check be rolling out?

We have a business member who had an employee tell the business she was advised by her doctor she needed to stop working due to her MS. She stopped working 2 weeks prior to the stay at home order. This is food service which is still open. The employee filed for unemployment and was awarded. Does the employer have recourse? She has been unable to get a call through to UI

Jill
41:59

Brittany
42:44

Carole
42:51
Good info to questions I've been trying to get answers for weeks! Wish we had this to tell employees earlier. Know this is a work in progress.

I thought the CARES act was to include those who are self employed/contractors regardless if they had regular employment, as well????
Ethan Bonen
43:18
I have a further question about the w-2 and self employed subject- It was answered that if the w-2 is enough then that's all the count. Am I still eligible for unemployment under my self employment if the amount I earn under my w-2 is very small?

As a small non-profit assisted living facility which is an essential business as we take care of seniors 24/7 do employers (under 50 employees) still have to pay sick/vacation time to employees during this time if it's non COVID-19 related of why they are off work? In addition, we're finding staff who don't want to work who are getting a doctor's note that they can't work during COVID and in this case do we have to pay vacation if they are going to be out of work or do we refer to our vacation policy? If they quit but we are needing them to work or there is work available for them will they still get unemployment?
Briana Harris
47:10
For the self employed: many of us are still working some, but at a greatly reduced level. We can’t always easily calculate hours worked (since we make variable wages for different projects). Will we have to prove we’re working less than 32 hours a week, or will there be some other metric?
MVB
47:36
Are the federal UI benefits going to be sent separately from the regular UI?
Ethan
48:02
How do I apply for the federal UI benefits?
Carole
48:44
I have gotten multiple requests for unemployment info online
carolco
49:38
Hang on, so if we have had to lay off some employees (who are applying for unemployment payments) but we were planning on using the PPP to retain others, we can’t do that?
Brian
49:59
What is CO doing to prevent employees from getting unemployment when there is work available for them at their current employer? As an essential business taking care of seniors, we can not function without our care staff (we are already understaffed causing overtime to sky rocket). With the added US govt unemployment benefits it may be too inviting for some people to try to get unemployment at the tax payer and employer expense.
N. Nwychmamere Walker
50:07

Janice Stitzer
51:35

Aidan Leonard
51:35
For small-business owners who opened their business/started operations within the past 12 months is the lost earnings calculation pro rated? Are there other considerations they should be aware of in terms of qualifying for either state or federal benefits? Also, it sounds like if you had a job lined up but couldn't start due to the pandemic you should qualify for federal benefits. What if you were a business owner with a scheduled start date that was pushed back? (ex. Child care provider with families scheduled to begin care who then withdrew due to social distancing.)
Carole
52:01
Have done 2 PPP web or calls re: PPP including Joe Neguse They do not have answers either. They said it's a labor law question.
Brian
52:16

Thank you for clarifying the diff between the Fed program and State UI. What about the tax rate if you choose to have it pre-taxed? Self employment income is typically taxed at a different rate.

How does UI effect social security benefits?
MVB
01:00:59
@Tyler @Daniel the $600 *does* count as income when applying for individual health coverage subsidies, it does *not* count as income for Medicaid. HCPF will soon release an FAQ about the difference

Chris Gibbs
01:06:55
Just to put a final point on it, can you ask Daniel to confirm that if someone is eligible for even $1 of state UI assistance for a given week that person will be entitled to the full $600 federal benefit for the week. This is important for employees still working some hours.
