We haven't as yet put in place any electronic giving for our membership as of yet, various challenges in our community at Greenstone UMC, but we are looking at electronic giving sources for our Restoration Project.

20:03
We just signed up for this and it works very well,

21:18
Hinsdale uses ACH and online via Elexio online. We did the Elexio conversion last year. All of our giving and church memebership records were converted to Elexio. It was a major conversion--so, not just a quick giving for this crisis.

21:37
Cornerstone Church Elgin we use Vanco

21:45
Are these fees for Credit Card or ACH? (Vanco is very different for each)

22:43
So they can set up regular payments?

23:06
e-giving provides same capability for donations

23:15
Orangeville UMC Do you need to be online or can you us a phone.

23:21
Credit Card giving has a charge.

23:28
Another great one is GIVLIA

23:50
Is cost of Breeze comparable to tithe.ly

23:50
I don't have enough people on the web to make it cost effective. The Congregants are for the most part 65 or older and our giving is the normal path.

24:22
That I think is the challenge with older members.. mail or an ACH might be best for them

25:04
is the 2.9% for credit card only. confirm not bank deduction

25:07
we want to encourage people to get to ach. once somone is set up as a recurring amount - meaning you might meet with the 65 year old - they will be set.

25:44
Vance is 1%

25:48
How do you reconcile the automatic giving through Breeze if you're using it in conjunction with QuickBooks? I'm assuming you can print out weekly reports of giving?

25:48
Our church is about 75% using Vanco and we are older. It's how you sell it; this virus may make it easier to get others to do it.

25:50
Agreed,, with the ACH for older members

26:18
so 600 a year

26:18
how fast are deposits transferred to account with breeze?

26:18
That's ok I can search for fees. keep going

26:48
NCS is $20.00 per month

28:02
Breeze looks very expensive at 3.1% for ACH...definitely do it directly. Virtually no cost.

28:10
Older/non web enabled members might also be more comfortable with having their bank draft a check and have that sent to the church every month…no cost to the church for this!

28:21
Does Breeze have a smartphone app?

28:34
What's a younger member :)

28:53
Christ UMC - Algonquin... we are an existing Vanco customer for EFT and have just added the Give+ set of apps & website functions. 1.9% + 0.25 /transaction. We also use PowerChurch which integrates with Vanco...

29:02
thank you

30:01
Breeze smartphone app information: https://www.breezechms.com/app

30:03
I have talked to Giving Fire. They provided this quote to me:

30:11
Option AYou pick up $20 of the $49 in monthly feesReduced processing of 2% CC + 1% ACHMonth to month contractOption BNo monthly fees for first 3 months2% Flat for CC and ACH.1 year contract

32:14
The UMF may test Option A where the UMF subsidizes the monthly fee for some period of time at the $20 level to get new churches to e-giving going. Interested? Email me: cwalters@umfnic.org

32:22
Reporting?

32:55
Is this being recorded? Sorry, of course this would be the time when multiple urgent calls come in :)

34:03
Yes please make sure y'all are muted to ensure a good recording :O)

34:04
This is being recorded and will be placed on the NIC website www.umcnic.org

35:04
Elexio is $0 monthly, 3% credit card and .75% ACH with 30 cents per transaction. Can lower CC costs to 1.99% with $49/month fee. So, depends on your volume. If you have a financial secretary that can work with givers and set up ACH directly with the giver's bank, can do for virtually no cost. Best for longer term.

37:53
That's how I setup the Kaneville UMC - non-profit.. We are looking at putting the paypal button on our website

38:21
Christ UMC - Algonquin... we tried to use PayPal, but our bank account is a business account and they are not set up for Paypal (WinTrust branch)

39:13
Our church is using Servant Keeper. Should we change to ACH?

40:14
I use Venmo for personal use all the time. is it only able to be used if members have the app?

40:38
Does the member have to create a Tithe.ly account? Or can the member give through the Tithe.ly text without creating an account?

41:03
any comments on e-giving

42:51
Thoughts on go fund me charity? free plan and 1.9% and .30 and they use PayPal giving on back end

42:58
Please forward chat texts for reference. North Northfield

43:11
We've encouraged our members to use the bank's bill pay system to give to the church

43:23
That's one loud radiator..

44:26
Thanks what we do at Hemenway

44:31
https://jctaccounting.com/2020/03/17/the-whys-and-hows-of-electronic-giving/ here's a video to share with your committee to encourage their adoption of this system.

44:50
I have shared links to our e-giving option (Vanco) on facebook during livestream worship and every email I sent to folks. We have seen a 300% increase in our monthly online giving. I also mailed a real letter at the beginning of the shelter in place order/no in-person worship order with directions for online giving and an envelope for giving by check. We have seen more mailed in giving than normal and people are using those giving envelopes!

44:51
I do it through my bank for free. my bank sends a check to the church

45:12
if you use Wordpress for your website, they have the ability to add a giving button, once you set up the church account.

45:20
We have quite a few people who do what Harry is talking about. The bank sends us the check. No cost to the church and minimal cost to the giver.

45:49
Will you send out the document ?

46:04
Facebook will also allow giving during livestreams, if you facebook account is registered as a nonprofit. there's some steps in getting that status.

46:43
Only issue now is someone needs to deposit the check and with people not in the office, it delays the availability of the cash. That's something we can use for getting people to give online or electronically

48:13
I agree with Harry, it's important to talk about how the church is ongoing during this time. naming what the church is doing - how we are caring for members. People are looking for a way to care for others in this time, and knowing the church is doing that will deepen their commitment to the church

48:23

50:45
unemployement

50:57
Can you make this document available on the NIC website?

51:49
We will place this document on the NIC website as well

52:11
GoFundMe is a great website; but normally there is an end date to the giving. The solutions we went over do not have end dates. If you are looking to do a quick fundraising goal, I totally recommend GoFundMe.

52:11
Thank you!

52:18
Janelle, yes, you have to have the Venmo app to use it.

52:19
another tip I've heard from others: sending envelopes addressed to the church with a tactful letter saying this is a way to support the church while sheltering may enable some check writers to participate while away.

55:43
Harry, can you send this out to us through the AC?

58:29
Lonnie and Anne Marie, can you send all of us Harry's printed suggestions?

59:14
we Already have an SOS fund for this reason.

01:00:27
the limitation about collecting money through the mail is that someone needs to be at the church to open them. and be sure that the internal controls are in place - like if there aren't two counters there are copies made and other tasks that assures the church all the funds are accountably managed.

01:00:59
HARRY:

Can I get Harris’ note?

01:03:48
Thank you so much for all the insights and information! Thank you!

01:04:09
If anyone else is from a small town — our bank has stepped up to help us. People can go to the drive up or night deposit and write our church name on the envelope and the bank will deposit it in our account.

01:04:18
I don’t see that option on my end. can you save chat for us?

01:04:37
Thanks for the information.

01:04:47
Hi this is___from___church. We are contacting our members to see how you are doing right now and to see if there is anything the church can do for you right now during this crisis. How can we help each other?

01:05:46
Then you listen connect them to online service or prayer or study that you have available. How do you want to continue giving talk about the services

01:07:33
we need everyones help to serve give two goals corona virus help. The general fund for staffing etc. end by thanking them. Tell folk you will follow up on their concerns. Here is how you can reach me. An example from another conference.

01:08:33
Thanks for all the useful info!!!

01:08:55
Hard to predict

01:08:57
I don’t know percentage, but I see a potential to bring our church down if this goes on too long.

01:09:11
Difficult to predict

01:09:30
This is hard to predict.

01:09:39
Same, really hard to say at this point

01:10:05
that is challenging in that if they give more early, we have less in the latter half of the year

01:10:36
From I see a big drop-off. It's too early to tell. I'm gessing a 30% drop off.

01:11:43
I agree on a touch base

01:11:43
our church building has a locked mailbox, attached to the building. i plan to let people know that they can mail in their offering, and it will be checked regularly

01:12:13
I plan to reach as many of our members as we can; email, facebook , phone calls,

01:12:15
God is good all the time all the time God is good. We all still need to know that has not changed. He loves us thru this difficult time

01:12:20
Check in in a couple of weeks. What's working for your church? Share ideas...

01:12:34
Donna from Channahon - I would like to get back in a couple of weeks.

01:13:22
I like the idea of checking back next week. This is very helpful for me. Thank you, Lonnie!

01:13:36
We just put all of our folks in small caring circles of 6-8 with a leader who will check in weekly with each person. Showing caring and creating connection seems vital to having a church at the end of this.

01:13:39
I agree that getting together again is helpful. Just as local church leaders need to connect, conference leadership should connect with local leaders.

01:14:11
We are "live streaming" and Zoom Meeting now for 2 weeks but only a few people have mailed in checks or added to our Vanco so far. And we have already lost our building usage revenuesFYI - We learned that when we set up contribution categories in Vanco this split the amounts in transaction / reports and also generated separate transaction fees since people were putting in separate amounts. So when we put in a separate category for helping cover transaction costs, it generated an added fee, losing some of the value. Getting fancy costs!

01:15:09
Lloyd that is valuable information. Thank you for sharing.

01:16:24
NCS giving is another good on-line giving serice we have used for years. They are only $20.00 per month. Thay have all the same services as Vanco.

01:16:58
Thank you!!!!

01:17:13
Thank you, everyone.

01:17:15
Thank you! God bless us all and the whole wide world with health and peace. Our God is generous!

01:17:18
thank you for providing this

01:17:27
Can we get Harris’ note?

01:17:31
Yes this will be on our NIC website

01:17:32
Thanks, Lonnie. Thank you all!

01:17:32
From Donna - thank you so much.

01:17:53
Thank you!
