A musical artist I follow posted about DARE a few years ago
A CBT specialist recommended it to me and said his clients were getting a lot out of the DARE book. I ordered it the same day he told me about it! Soon into the book and after finishing it, I did not need the CBT specialist anymore.
That’s great Brittney. We have to spread the word to CBT therapists. I went through several therapists until finding one that helped me. I told her about DARE and she said she will recommend it for people with anxiety in the future.

Me too! I was doing just about anything and putting my faith in therapy and a DARE book I knew nothing about at the time ha. It's nice to know my journey might be similar to others :)
I’ve been feeling the same way. I feel like I’m stuck in this phase. It’s like I’m constantly fighting my thought to not flip back to the dark place
At the top of the Dare Advanced Page, you’ll see headings like “About” “Discussion” etc. Click on “More” and then click on “Files.” There you’ll find Aida’s uploads.
Being in that phase is a sign of progress. I couldn’t believe I had gotten better but I reminded myself that I was far worse before. Just look at it as a sign you are recovering
Alfredo, What do you do during the “space”?
I still ruminate, but am able to defuse, then ruminate again....ugghhh
Try to relax, go spaghetti, do the Dare steps
I used to diffuse, repeat I accept and allow these anxious thoughts/feelings, then I ran toward and challenged my anxiety to give me more.
The diffuse that worked for me was Barry explaining what anxiety was. It is just adrenaline in the body. Same was when you are excited.
I'm having more anxiety lately, but it's very short lived is this part of recovery?
So I begin to believe my anxiety is natural and won’t hurt me. ANXIETY WONT HURT YOU

That diffuse worked for me
I began to say OH IT IS JUST ANXIETY
Took the fear and sting out of it
Yeah Chris your anxiety spells will lessen in time and intensity when you are recovering
I use the: worried voice, false comfort and wise mind analogy. Helps me create distance with the thoughts/sensations and helps me be the actual observer, not participant. Helps with rumination. I use to be so wrapped up in it but it's helped me look at it for what it is

You are on the right path. Expect it to come back like a pop quiz at times. You will be prepared for it tho
The space gives me time to apply some logic to the situation. My internal conversation lets me see that this is not an immediate emergency I understand he issue and know that I will deal with it at the appropriate time but for now there is no danger - back to engage

That’s right Derek. The one thing I got out of CBT traditional therapy was to apply logic to my fearful anxiety thoughts
