Hi, Mr. Younge!
Does Newsela work with Schoology or do we have to use Clever?
RCCSD is using Clever not Schoology
I use news ela and add the link into schoology courses.
You can link the assignments in Newsela to Schooology courses though, so that students can move between the two. The rostering is done through Clever.
Are these changes made since the fall of 2019?
I am not seeing the change text level bubble
you might need to move the box with everyone's pictures in it
it is behind our pictures on Ellen's screen. top right
Simpler sentence structure
Grade level appropriate
I think the older level included speaker quotes.
Is 400L the lowest Lexile for all articles on Newsela?
I let students redo quizzes by resetting it for them. Is there a quicker way to do that besides individually resetting quizzes?
Would you recommend to assign articles based on the appropriate grade level to all students because the platform will adapt to eac student?
I divide my class into groups according to the different Lexile levels.
When I first logged on, I clicked "General Elementary" for the subjects I teach (2nd Grade). Would you suggest also clicking ELA, Math, Socials Studies/Science, or does "General Elementary" pull the same articles that the individual subject areas do?
I never tried that. Thanks!
Rosa Flores Giron
Thank you for the info for spanish
Could you show how to access novel studies?
can you show the data that teachers will receive once they have students completing articles and quizzes?
Do you have to assign the articles? Is there a way to get a link to share?
The link in the URL on the article or assignment is what you can put into Schoology.
To link our class with Clever, do we have to have students click a code?
yes you can assign in Clever and students can access the articles in Newsela (through clever) as well
either option works or both.
I found that if I was logged on with Google, I couldn’t sync classes. So I had to log off and then log on with Clever before I could sync.
Thanks for sharing, David. I think I did the same thing.
Can the articles be downloaded as PDFs? I would potentially want to email articles to parents for the option to print them instead of students viewing online from home.
where do we go to access the students results?
So- these articles (and even quizzes) aren't very printer-friendly in terms of format?
I think the concern is for students that do not have internet access at home. Suggestions for those circumstances?
There is a print button on the articles. When you click them it becomes a PDF
Ok, great. Thanks!
In school, I have used the articles exclusively in print and it’s easily done
I think you just shared, but could parents access articles via the link without having to have students logged in?
Is there a way for the teacher to see/show the student view?
I have to go to another meeting. Thanks again, Ellen!
Ellen- I may have missed your response earlier, but can parents view the articles with just the link... i.e. without students logging on?
Thank You Ellen!
