Welcome!

12:12
Hi everyone - I keep losing power and internet with Hurricane Eta lashing us

14:41
Oh, no! Hang in there, Christine!

15:59
Hello everyone from Syracuse, NY

16:00
Hi all, I'm Pam. I'm an ID from Penn State

16:04
Hi, everyone! My name is Jenae, and I’m one of the co-chairs for OLC Live! Joining you today from Sacramento, CA

16:23
Hellooooooo everyone! Christine Hinkley, Sr. Director of OLC Conferences and Events. I just came to hang out with you for this OLC Live event. :)

16:33
Hi Everyone, I am an Instructional Designer at Collin College, Wylie, TX.

16:59
Annette Beck, Director of Operational Services University College/Distance and Online Education. The University of Iowa

17:09
I am everywhere :) Jenae's session was great!

17:26
Thanks, Tracy! Nice to see you here again! :)

17:54
Looks like we’ve got a lot of ID folks here, which will be great for thinking through COVID-19 response and the future of institutional support (our theme for today!)

18:34
what?! Sunny in Portland and storming in Florida. What gives?

18:43
Ya, something is not right

18:53
That's 2020 in a nutshell, isn't it?

19:21
amen

20:23
What I am missing here is consideration of bandwidth and suggesting methods to deliver high quality education with limited internet capability. All these wondeful sessions are bandwith intensive.

21:08
luckily Ilse they are all recorded and available on-demand within 24 hours. So you can go back for up to one year to watch anything you missed!

21:21
yes!

21:43
Anyone else going to the virtual family feud?

21:43

21:47
I agree Ilse. In South Africa bandwith is a huge issue.

24:15
For audience members, if you’d like to share what YOUR institutions have been doing to pivot to remote instruction, feel free to share!

24:23
It’s great when we have dialogue here between the panelists and the attendees

24:29
What are some things that you all have been doing at your institutions?

25:06
Folks, as we chat along, if you also want to come on mic/camera, raise your hand and/or share here in chat and we can make room for you.

27:06
Great planning!

27:19
That is extremely impressive, Sherri!!

27:21
I’m exhausted just listening to that

27:36
LOL

27:44
Amazing Sherri!

27:47
I’m sure others have done some similar “dances” too!

28:39
Anyone else offering something like a pivot primer? Questions they have about continuing to offer support to their institutions?

30:08
Yes, if other folks have links to their programs, love to see them shared here in chat

30:21
We are a small college and the "online initiative" was introduced as we pivoted. Where would you suggest starting now that faculty are overwhelmed having gone through survival mode?

33:37
UMBC is strong on the program names!

35:41
@Dawn - I would survey them; find out what worked for them and where they feel they need training/support

36:06
Find out where they feel their strengths and areas of improvement are

36:45
Don’t assume because they are subject matter experts that they know the effective practices of pedagogy and course design

38:01
That’s a good reminder, Sherri, about the difference between SMEs & course designers :)

40:28

And Tony’s on 17 Nov also: ONLINE LEARNING, COVID-19, AND NOW AND FUTURE ISSUES OF FACULTY GOVERNANCE AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING https://www.engagez.net/ac20#~lct=customlocation-Location1-530923

41:53
With 5 minutes left, I'll post some links to finish up the 'business' part of our session

42:05
Thanks, Laurie!

42:19
And thanks for the links to Sherri’s and Tony’s sessions, Nate!

42:25
Each OLC-Accelerate session has a link to complete a session evaluation. These are important for our future planning and for our presenters to receive feedback. Your submission enters you into a drawing for a $25 gift card! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdYF5GwczFWqemgZM_s0R0k3EurmMysomIzxsALTuv1mJG-EA/viewform?entry.1952643545&entry.1303143111&entry.1961758182=9435&entry.598587566&entry.965164067&entry.1431947991=8663

42:37
That is a very important reminder, Sherri. At many institutions, SMEs/faculty serve as course designer because they have always been given autonomy in creating their own courses. And, I don't think all institutions have enough instructional designers to build courses online. The team approach is essential for quality content delilvery.

43:06
This year for OLC Live! we’re trying something new. Hosts Jenae and Nate are sourcing our guest interviewees right from the amazing group of presenters and audience members as a way to stay responsive to the discussions actually happening during the conference. Help us identify engaging and provocative speakers by completing the OLC Live! nomination form. You can even nominate yourself! https://bit.ly/3kEJJP8

43:57
And finally, all sessions are recorded - AC20 registrants have access to the recordings for a year!

44:11
Next week, tomorrow… what’s time anymore? :)

It’s all COVID time, right?

45:50
Laurie and Nate, thanks so much for providing all these links. It is incredibly helpful.

46:34
Thank you all. Sherri and Tony: very interesting and informative. Look forward to future sessions :)

46:39
