This has certainly been an unprecedented census, and some amazing things have come from all the work and creativity done by everyone. One of the most valuable tools created is SwORD. Will SwORD be funded to continue to be available and accessible after the census ends? SwORD is a VERY VALUABLE tool that many counties and CBO and state agencies could utilize in on-going outreach across California and would like to see remain available for our future use. Thank you

The leadership of CCF and We Count LA has been instrumental in continuing the outreach efforts in LA County. LACOE continues to partner with them and appreciate immensely the efforts of school districts and non profit agencies together with local government in getting out the count. A couple of massive events we’ve been collaborating on are the LA County Census Chalkathon (inspired by Santa Cruz) that concludes on Sept 7 and a Census Fill-A-Long with Univision 34 (with a Facebook Live with teachers Thursday at 6:30 PM). i echo the THANKS to the California Census Familia. (resent now since I had not changed to panelists and attendees) 😉

I am also hearing from folks that Census Workers are under tremendous pressure to close cases in their Non-Response Follow Up workload. What accountability measures are in place to verify that cases that are closed out—by being declared vacant/unoccupied, non-residential, or nonexistent—are checked for accuracy? The six attempts is a suggestion not a mandate. We hear from the field some are doing 3 and moving on. Have you heard about this? What are you doing to make sure that six attempts is happening? Also hearing that Census Workers are quitting and/or being let go due to lack of available work. How will the Bureau ensure there are enough trained Census Takers to complete the Service-Based Enumeration operation as planned?
