Prof. Krhoda hit the nail on the head, fragility and inadequate funding has a devastating effect on WASH.
Nchedi Moripe
01:16:23
Prof Krhoda, is very correct, the African Countries are not at the same level, hence it is important to share Best Practices and why we need Financial and investment enhancement and booster, which is what AIP seeks to achieve.

The varying levels of IWRM adoption across the continent in the face of sometimes weak co-management instruments, and financing challenges actually calls for intentional investment accelerators and frameworks. PIDA, AIP, et al:

Exactly, thank you Director Paul for highlighting this

this investment must also benefit youth women, in all projects that PIDA, AIP would tender out for construction. we need to capacitate women and youth constructors.

Corruption and diabolical governance- that’s the bane of development in the African continent. Solve that and all these problems will disappear although I’m aware this is easier said than done!
Paul Orengoh
01:25:36
Wise words, Ms Lindiwe. The viability of any sector investment plans depends very much on how Africa taps into her greatest resource that is the youth population, and promoting equity.
Azzika Tanko Yussif, SPA, AMCOW.

Data gap is the greatest challenge resulting in erroneous feasibilities and resultantly, designs
Paul Orengoh
01:34:59
The very fact that Africa is off track towards the SDGs calls for even greater re-engagements and a dynamic enabling environment. Intentional investment frameworks are needed, ie the newly launched AfDB Water & Sanitation Policy. Perhaps a time to rethink the Africa Water Vision 2025 as a catalyser and a magnet for the much needed technical and financial re-engineering
Eng.Doaa Hamed RCTWS/ EGYPT
01:35:50
two pillars of building inclusive knowledge societies. This will contribute to ensuring development : governance and transparency, in line with African Union Aspiration
Nathan Mwema

Institutional capacity is mainly the cause of the data gap as there is no one to document or they have no tools and equipments.

Is it true that expansion of water for irrigation will give value to water and consequently lead to its prudent use and management?
Paul Orengoh
02:30:39
Good question on GW vs surface water projections. Well, this is first a pointer that groundwater space is getting more attention and therefore the scientific reader has to better understand it’s spread and availability, but also perhaps an indication of the many anthropogenic and climatic challenges facing the surface water, including intensified use and climate change impact
Nina Flohr, GIZ
02:31:06

02:35:55
Regarding the question, Why is the GW projection increasing while the surface water is decreasing? There are a couple of a number of explanations. First of all, there are increase use of groundwater for domestic uses in rural communities while the hitherto urban areas that do rely on public water supply from dams and reservoirs are also increasingly turning to using groundwater sources inform of boreholes due to failing public supply. In addition, there are increasing use of groundwater also for small holders and medium agricultural irrigation systems for food production. Thus more and more attentions are towards groundwater. All these can be attributed to the resilience of groundwater to climate change impacts, ease of access in rural communities, readily available quality wise without or with minimal treatment unlike surface water etc.
Nathan Mwema
02:39:56
What need to be addressed is assessment of the ground water resource before directly assuming its presence.
Obinna Anah
02:40:46
Among all the best practices highlighted by the experts, I will appreciate that Africa begins to call to mind the need to strengthening intra-sectoral Knowledge Management and Use. This idea was committed to by Heads of States and Governments during the Sharm el-Sheikh ordinary session of the AU log ago in 2008.Thinking in this direction will help the continent develop a backbone for future smartness; drive a lot of anticipatory leadership and management in the sector's segments, and substantiate Africa's possible efforts toward strategic foresight.During the emergence of the COVID 19 pandemic, it was clear that many countries were not ready for the uncertainty. We must think ahead and prepare for uncertain changes and be sure that we are learning the lessons we are supposed to know and using what we are learning.
Obinna Anah
02:46:46
Also, the lessons we learn while implementing several programmes in the sector should be integrated into our schools and higher institutions if we must be ready to meet our water goals in the continent.
Nchedi Moripe
02:51:32
I think his session shows that Africa has great Technical People who will contribute to the upcoming WWW will be hosted by Senegal, and I hope Member States and relevant organizations will rally behind them,
Moshood Tijani
02:51:52
Of course, there is the need to addressed the assessment of the ground water resource. That is why the emphasise AMCOW is stressing is about capacity building in data generation and management relating to groundwater resources assessment. Without adequate capacity in groundwater assessment and useage monitoring, there cannot be sustainable utilization and management of groundwater in Africa.
Nchedi Moripe
