Where can we find this recording afterwards? Folks on the pediatrics rotation has lecture going on right now. I’m trying to multitask and listen to both lectures but it’s a bit difficult.
Matthew Pecha
19:36
Who do we talk to to set up a meeting to discuss a plan of action for more than one 4th year experience if we think it’s important?
Matthew Pecha
20:31
Yes, if it’s not offered at UTMB
Ahmed Butt
21:34
If you are accepted to more than one away rotation and have to turn one down, is it looked upon negatively by the program?
Lauren Malaya
21:35
I’ve seen a few sites (this may be pre-recommendation time / last year’s VSAS) that say students can’t come unless they are required by their school. Are we required to do an away?
HAMZA UDDIN
21:56
oops sorry everyone
Robyn Okereke
22:05
I know some third years doing all of their rotations in Houston...is this the same process as single away rotations?
Viridiana Saenz
22:16
any specifics in the rules pertaining to away rotations in a state other than Texas?
Lauren Malaya
23:33
I just wanted to clarify if UTMB SOM is requiring us to do an away or virtual or whatever option.
Matthew Pecha
24:07
Will UTMB allow us to do in-person interviews in the Fall (if a program happens to offer it)?
Estefania Bazan
24:14
Will it look bad if we do an away but our residency does not require one?
Dawnelle Schatte
24:39
Why would anyone ever want to leave Texas?!?
Robyn Okereke
24:53
Thank you. Where can I find information on site rotations?
Will Bomar
25:17
@Robyn there are Houston specific electives you can look at in the elective brochure
Robyn Okereke
25:31
thanks!
Cresencio Adame IV
25:44
Dr. Schatte, do you know if EM PD’s are still in agreement with students having one SLOE for this year as well?
Katherine Ferry
26:06
Any word about ERAS being pushed back to October?
Dawnelle Schatte
26:16
@Cresencio, not sure yet. I have monthly meetings with some of those leaders and no decision yet.
Cresencio Adame IV
27:16
Thank you!
Dawnelle Schatte

If we do multiple aways in the same city is that more likely to be allowed? For ex, if we do ones at mcgoverna and baylor?
Jacob Symington
33:28
Even if we plan on only doing 1 away rotation, should we apply to a few programs in case we don’t get accepting to our first or second choice?
Shaine LeGrand
33:37
Very few institutions accept MS3s for away rotations.
Dawnelle Schatte
34:03
@Jacob, I would email that question to Lisa Pearce. She will know better that specific question.
Viridiana Saenz
34:06
is there a slight chance the ERAS application will be push back to October as it was the case in 2020?
Viridiana Saenz
34:36
i heard rumors, I am only seeking clarification. thank you.
Becca Guler
35:35
Something for students to keep in mind: these are widespread recommendations based on a nationwide health situation, so if they're affecting you, they're also affecting basically everyone else going into your Match year. This doesn't put you at a disadvantage!!!
Crystal Carpenter
35:44
This is true
Katherine Ferry
36:26
Is there any way to tell the exact dates for the away elective?Like start and end dates?
Dawnelle Schatte
37:00
@Katherine, take a look at VSAS by school for dates.
Viridiana Saenz
37:08
thank you for clarifying
Katherine Ferry
38:12

The 6 clinical elective credits are including in the 24 total right?
Dawnelle Schatte
48:42
Yes, 6 is counted in the cumulative 24 total. The Minimester does NOT count towards that number.
Waleed Cassis
49:37
Will UTMB receive the new vaccine (single dose)?
Dawnelle Schatte
50:05
Please get vaccinated for your patients to reduce your risk to spreading to your patients.
Lauren Malaya
51:45
When do we hear back about accepted aways?
Michael Chen
52:02
So we need to upload vaccination information if we got it through employee services here at UTMB?
Crystal Carpenter
52:05
Please allow 90 days for affiliation agreements. Always have a back up plan
Waleed Cassis
53:51
For programs not historically requiring aways, is there any use in doing an away after ERAS submission if we cannot secure a spot before then ?
Dawnelle Schatte
54:18
After rank list is submitted, @Waleed? No - no benefit then
Waleed Cassis
54:31
