Are there CE’s given for this Webinar?
Cheryl Dolan
49:37
Need to add Colorado as a state where dental hygienists are permitted to administer COVID 19 vaccines
Ashley Grady
49:43
this is informational only, no CE for this webinar
Robert Condy
49:48
For the slide on covid incidence rates, was that based on positive test confirmations? or just self-reported cases regardless of whether they were tested or not?
Lynne Reardon
49:49
Thank you
Gail Aamodt
49:58
Oregon can now administer
Vicky Fedor
50:53

To clarify…those RDH’s in CA - click this link above!
Karin Bogart
55:37
Perhaps due to "mandating" the vaccine?
John Scott
57:50
Do you have any data on number of procedures & any changes or trends that may impact practices & workload?
Cameron Estrich
57:51
To Robert Condy's question about COVID-19 incidence, it was based on self-reported positive test or diagnosed by doctor.
Robert Condy
58:27
thanks for the clarification
Cameron Estrich
58:35
To John Scott's question, this isn't something we've included in this survey, but I know some researchers have used dental claims data to evaluate changes in procedures and workload.
Kim McCrady
01:00:17
Do we know what support employers need to provide Rdh’s need to return to work?
John Scott
01:00:23
Trying to understand any reasons for increases in number of Hygienists not voluntarily leaving offices.
Robert Condy
01:01:00
is there any data available anywhere on number of documented cases of covid contracted at dental offices by patients?
Shannon Brewster
01:04:39
These are Experimental vaccines - They have until November 2022 and January 2023
Sherri Ryckman
01:04:44
Great presentation!!
John Scott
01:05:21
Any best practices on PPE utilization or other additional devices being used by Hygienist to help manage aerosols during AGP that can help reduce anxiety &/or stress levels?
Michelle Lee
01:06:04
Congratulations ADHA on these positive findings! Looking forward to seeing more States allowing dental hygienists to administer vaccines.
Kristy Menage Bernie, RDH, MS, RYT
01:06:58
Where is the ADA/HPI tonight?!
Marko Vujicic
01:07:43
Rachel Morrissey is with HPI.
Beverly Frye
01:07:53
they say avoid when posdible!!! use your professional clinical judgment.
Marko Vujicic
01:08:03
Rachel Morrissey is with HPI.
Paula Cohen
01:08:21
I thought you could use cavitron with high speed suction
Shavonne Healy
01:08:23
Safety concerns - survey questions to access how many are in situations where they are being forced to reuse PPE, dull instruments, working longs hours without breaks etc may provide a correlation and how going back to work has affected clinicians physically - also would be helpful to know demographics
Kristy Menage Bernie, RDH, MS, RYT
01:09:23
Marko…really?!
Dawn Dean
01:09:28
Thank you, Teams ADHA & ADA, for your ongoing research, collaboration and public presentations, in this regard!
Robert Condy
01:10:46
is there any data available anywhere on number of cases of covid that were documented as contracted at dental offices?
Shannon Brewster
01:10:46
I have seen more patients coming in that haven't been in a dental office for 5-10 yrs. I doen
Shannon Brewster
01:11:02
don't think they are scared
Kim Boggs-Kline
01:11:25
I am a dental rep and offices are ordering more brushes and paste
N Gontier
01:11:58
We're seeing a drop in attendance due to fears. Must be the demographic.
Kristy Menage Bernie, RDH, MS, RYT
01:12:02
What about a dental ‘drill’?!
Cathy Berard
01:12:11
At my office, we are seeing an increased demand for hygiene services and patients are very proud to inform us that they are fully vaccinated :-)
N Gontier
01:12:26
That's fantastic!!
Lucy Conard
01:12:40
Are
Kristy Menage Bernie, RDH, MS, RYT
01:12:53
@Cathy! REALLY?! WOW!
Marcelo Araujo
01:12:56
It is not on the recommendations but it could be part of the screening
Lucy Conard
01:13:23
Are DDS allowed to use their handpieces That create aerosols?
Marcelo Araujo
01:13:43
If the test is positive the office should refer the patient to their physician
Virginia Lawrence
01:13:51
My office is extremely busy. Vaccinated patients get their teeth polished. We don’t use cavitron
Lisa Watson
01:13:53
If an Extra oral evacuation system is in place, are you still recommending ultrasonic device be weighed ?
Kristy Menage Bernie, RDH, MS, RYT
01:14:35
So is ADHA now open to ….being OPEN?! Fully?!
Shavonne Healy
01:14:56
Cathy, no surprise there in regard to increased hygiene demand- Decisions in Dentistry - The ADA HPI’s survey results from the week of April 12, 2021, show that 58.1% of private dental practices are open with similar patient volumes seen prior to the global pandemic -
Tanya Thompson
01:15:32
If a patient has had a Positive COVID test result, we recommend they wait 2 weeks and/or have a Negative COVID test result and are symptom free. I am in a pediatric practice
Shannon Brewster
01:15:36
Please remember these experimental vaccines do not prevent people from contracting the virus. So we say fully vaccinated but it isn't like say the MMR.
maricela parra
01:16:30
isn't a slow speed polisher creating aerosol so a n95 mask always require?
Kristy Menage Bernie, RDH, MS, RYT
01:17:02
So is ADHA now open to ….being OPEN?! Fully?!
Shannon Brewster
01:17:15
to Maricela - yes and the air water as well
Vicky Fedor
01:17:32
I sure hope Aerosol guidelines stay because there may be another virus in the future
Shannon Brewster
01:17:52
Oh and the high speed drill does too
Marcelo Araujo
01:18:21
The latest data show that due to the variants, we should not get to herd immunity until we get to 80% of the population being vaccinated. We still need to prevent what they are calling “breakthrough infection”.
Marcelo Araujo
01:19:40
You all did great! Today’s webinar is another example of great partnership! Thank you all!
Sandra VanBrandt
01:20:23
ADA needs to updated the ADA Covid-19 Pre-Screening form to ask patients. What are your thoughts on an updated form?
Marko Vujicic
01:21:20
Ditto to Marcelo, you are a great panel!
Marcelo Araujo
01:21:25
Hand pieces can be used with high speed suction and full PPE.
ADHA Education
01:22:31
Hey YOU!
Marcelo Araujo
01:22:49
There is an option to the use of cavitron but not for a high speed hand piece. We need to use the clinical judgement.
Katherine Pelullo
01:23:13
What is the current guidance on reusing PPE
Kristy Menage Bernie, RDH, MS, RYT
01:24:23
again…really? Such a missed opportunity!
Kirsten Jarvi
01:25:02
Curious, how many RDH’s are on this webinar right now?
Peggy Lelesi
01:25:08
Patients also ask if we have been vaccinated.
Kirsten Jarvi
01:25:36
Thank you for the update ADHA.
Robert Condy
01:28:13
as a follow-up to that question on contact tracing, does anyone here (panelists or attendees) know if there are any cases of covid documented as contracted at dental offices ?
Kirsten Jarvi
01:28:19
Should ADHA post the latest Mask data on aerosols on ADHA.net? J.G. Answered this question but what an opportunity...
Kirsten Jarvi
01:29:19
Or ADHA smartphone App? Have an updated real time SMS, or CMS informing our professionals?
cynthia weijs
01:30:00
Thanks for sharing your data. Do you ask or intend to ask questions about increases in repetitive strain injury?
Marcelo Araujo
01:30:29
Screening is necessary, use all the tools you have.
cynthia weijs
01:30:38
Due to overuse of hand instruments
Faye Rosengard
01:30:45
Thank you for the update!
Kirsten Jarvi
01:31:09
JG-go lady SpO2 too!
Kristy Menage Bernie, RDH, MS, RYT
01:32:42
Ahhh???!!!
Shavonne Healy
01:32:49
Robert - When testing positive for COVID 19 you should be reporting it to state dental health departments. I've called different state departments to inquire about documentation and they are not categorizing healthcare professionals by occupation so I don't think we will ever truly know.
Shannon Mills
01:32:56
Thanks. Great program.
