My name is Cheree Dowdell and I work with the homeless youth as their Aftercare Caseworker. I assist the girls with locating housing, employment and other. I do a lot a "foot work" in building relationships with landlords and apartment managers.

I currently work as a career counselor, but before coming to JVS I worked for a community action agency and was an employment specialist for homeless adults. My office was in a homeless shelter. I used CBT, Motivational interviewing, applying mindful grounding techniques with activated clients.

Motivational interviewing seems to apply here, as his motivation (seeing his daughter) is so clear - so working with that as a goal and meeting him where he is now in order to envision that future.
Motivational interviewing would be a great method, focusing on his motivation to reconnect with his daugther

I like that Vanessa - also considering the potential other systems he may be involved with like MDOC, the courts (for child support and/or visitation)
