PFAS = Polyfluoroalkyl SubstancesA group of man-made chemicals that have been used in industry and consumer products worldwidesince the 1950s. These chemicals are used to make fluropolymer coatings and products that resist heat, oil, stains, grease, and water. They can be used in clothing, furniture, food- packaging and non-stick cooking surfaces, and the insulation of electrical wire.Many of the chemicals can move through soil and contaminate drinking water sources and they build up in fish and wildlife.People are most likely exposed by consuming PFAS-contaminated water or food or using products that contain PFAS.For more info:https://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/pfas/index.html
