Virtual Homework Assistance using Zoom

Floyd Co. Library in New Albany has added Tutor.com as a free service to all its patrons. It just launched and we are excited to offer it to everyone in our service area.

One recipe for success definitely does not fit all. We have sites where the data and relationships with families has spoken for itself and others we’ve had to take lunch and show up to the school with sweets until the principal was sick of us lol

@Jordan Byrd - curious as to where are you locating your in-person support? In a school or offsite?

Helping parents utilize community resources as well as bridging gap between school and parents (especially for ESL parents). Example: Help parent communicate their technology needs to school

Working on same, hosting elearning for our members

We had a very worthwhile day yesterday. We had a Virtual Day for teachers because we are still fortunate enough to still be having school days person to person. Teachers had assigned virtual assignments earlier BUT parents had the option to bring their students to school and assistants conducted the school day. Students had the help of the assistants if needed along with all technology needs and teachers were available if needed. We then provided our Lights-On program at 3:00. Students were picked up by parents at 5:30. No stress for parents or students!

The JCC ASC has its own building, so it is offsite.

Ashley, as you worked through this process are there lessons learned that may be applicable to other districts around the state?

How do we connect kids that have IEPS and Behavioral issues to a hub? That has been a issue with just a couple of our families. These kids need a one on one and its hard to give that support if we don't have that type of staffing.

Students can get referred to special supports through their school or school social worker

I was just in conversation with the social worker that we are partnered with and she didn't have good information. How can I get information that could be helpful to her as well.
