What about solving job / career problems or getting promotions and pay rises?

11:26
3 questions come to mind for me if I can be cheeky:1. I’m a writer as well as an expert so I get confused with how best to position myself - do I do both, or do I choose one or the other in each pitch?2. Is it better to pitch one in-depth story or give 2-3 different ideas? Then how and when should we follow up when we don’t hear back?3. Would you ever take a chance on a new writer for a column or regular feature, or would you always first want to test them out on a one-off and then carry on as you said when you know it works.

11:48
Is affordable travel of interest at the moment?

12:34
QUESTION: mix of for both of you, if we are with a 'agency' like UNLOCK Marketing (where t&C's say to go via them) how do we get on the contacts list of people like Emily?

14:29
Do topics vary for online and print editions?

14:39
I find mags and papers ect quite clicky and there is generally no space for anyone new to get featured and emails to editors seem to get brushed aside when your contacting them as a “stranger”. You also just mentioned when you find someone you like you work with them on going, how can we get the chance when its quite a closed, click industry?

14:41
Would Emily like to come on a Yoga and sailing holiday?

17:02
Thanks very much!

19:30
In the health, wellness and weight loss space, it seems like the more ‘sensationalist’ quick fix diets get covered by experts I.e why you should do Keto, how can people who don’t use a fad approach stand out

19:53
Which topics or demographics do better online?

26:36
QUESTION: Emily, how should we 'catch you're eye' - is it a quirky subject line, or do you read the submission before you decide? or other?

28:51
either

29:00
Is it worth sending my books or offering my service for free?

29:55
What makes picking up the pitch easier for a journalist? What are the top 3 elements of a pitch from your perspective?

30:44
Lamia - that's my question but better put 😊

31:45
Is there a way we can keep ahead of whats a popular topic within our specialist area i.e beauty so we can pitch something super relevant instead of stabbing in the dark. You mentioned checking google searches, is this something you would suggest we do when pitching ideas/articles?

35:20
QUESTION - if you get something you like but it's not fit for what you are looking for on the day, do you file it or bin it? i.e. if I re-send out an article I've sent before is that an insult (as you seen it before - as you now see me as lazy for re-sending same) or handy for you to be reminded of that article?

36:06
Hi Emily xxx this is yyy

43:50
QUESTION: you say if you like the idea but want to go back to them and say "could you do this instead" does that still work via an agency?

43:53
You've talked about headlines but is there good technique in eMail subject lines to catch your attention and get our content noticed?

47:24
Thought Emily would have hi-tech tools beyond Google Trends and answer the public - would love a talk on how she uses them 😁

50:30
Clearly an expert, enjoying this talk - don't leave lifestyle, as a hypnotist this is my area :-)

51:07
What is hot and coming up right now?

51:28
WORDLE?

52:06
Donkey

53:13
Is there an appetite for B2B tech stories?

53:19
wordle is more logic than english

54:29
QUESTION: as a lifestyle person - do you see hypnosis (my niche) as 'woo-woo spooky' or (as it is now) scientifically proven? The real question is do you touch it or run away from it? I know it's a marmite thing for many.

56:22
Would you say that you need to up your spec on Social media to get noticed in press?

56:58
Just want to say there are some really cool businesses at unlocked, would it work to pair up with a relevant business at unlocked to pitch something? Or would this be a lengthy procedure to arrange?

Check out my video on YouTube of my client who lost 3st9
