Speaking of discrimination, I just came out of a session and we were talking about those bills and the Fairness Act

When I moved back in 2018 I relied heavily on Uber and Lyft to get around, until I learned my way around again. I can’t imagine a driver cancelling on me because I was riding with a girlfriend.

Hope you don’t mind if I namedrop you Nishelle, but we both came out of a session hosted by Fairness WV right before this one

I hate to say it, but I’m moving after graduation to pursue my doctorate. I want to live here but the bills that are being presented seem to show that they don’t want diversity here

I work at a restaurant and one of the servers is gay and is one of the most hardworking people I know. Last year he waited on an older couple who seemed nice, but when they left, not only did they not tip him, they left him a note explicitly stating “We don’t tip gays.”

I’m not religious myself, but I was raised in a Christian home and I can’t stand when people will try to use their religion to justify this type of discrimination. If Jesus himself could spend his life associating with groups of people that society deemed the lowest of the low, then we can certainly treat people the same way regardless of who they love or how they want to live

Just had to get that out of my system

As a mid 30’s black female, I would like to know what businesses are doing to help people like me feel comfortable moving back to an area that hasn’t seen any real growth in the last 20 years.

I’ve noticed that many of these bills are coming from outside the state…how can we best communicate to the legislature that we don’t want these bills?
