Who can see your viewing activity?
this Zoom account only allows 100 participants
I see people talking but I have no sound
when you log in to zoom, you have to allow audio.
Looks like Zoom has max'ed out at 100
Is this the free version?
you can do live streaming on FB or YouTube to allow more ppl watching.
also use Zoom Webinar instead of zoom meeting will allow more ppl to connect
sound is good here, thanks.
Where's that raise hand button/icon, Robert?
it's in the chats if you are using your phone
Hi Janet, if you click the ‘participants’ button, click that
I am finally in
And then you should be able to see the ‘raise hand’ option. :)
half and half!
Sort of "working from home" … minimal
It's the "Participants" button on the bottom of the Zoom screen.
My cat and dog are now just my very lazy assistants
I am not working at all. Dentists have been shut down.
@robert Some are unable to get in due to 100 max limit for this call
We have fixed this issue. Those who were not able to get in, should be able now.
Seasonal worker in Tourism, sooo...
every four weeks
Question: Is there any talk in your world on the large-scale changes now that so many systems are on "pause" … I am thinking of food supply (nearly one million unused acres of farmland in NB but we import 95% of our food? Can this moment in time allow for major changes in how we have done things up to now??
Yeah you can't even call them. I tried. They only take web form based questions now.
things were slow enough to begin with
Yes, I have been disqualified based on a minimum amount of revenue
Sorry, but I missed the first minutes of your talk, could you tell me what's going on so far?
Hi Carlos, welcome. We are doing a Q & A. You are free to ask your question in this chat, or use the “raise your hand” function
I have heard advice that people should set aside 20% of what they get for taxes.
yes students are and we are not all young some of us have families that we are trying to support
I, for one, very much want to go back to work.
Me too, Lincoln!
In the US, there is an incentive program for businesses that provides economic recovery financing with a portion that would be forgivable. The forgivable portion is tied to jobs that are maintained or rehires from workers laid off. Is this something that the Federal recovery plan is looking at? This would help to address Jonathan’s point.
if you read about the history of temporary foreign workers in Canada, this has been an ongoing issue since the 1950s and employers have always had to first offer these jobs to Canadians. It is hard and low paying employment with not very cushy working conditions. Temp foreign farmworkers have become a structural necessity for the agricultural industry in Ontario as several programs have been implemented to try to entice workers to take these jobs to no avail... UFCW is working to try to improve labour rights and conditions of TFWs in agriculture in Ontario as they have no Aven
I hear you, Tom. I hear you.
Save Clinic 554!
Avenue to citizenship but have. even coming for years
Thank you! 554 is an essential service.
i just wanted to add that advocating for these women to go to hospitals during a pandemic is not okay either. These procedures do not need to be in the hospital especially now.
Doesn’t clinic 554 do abortions? That’s sketchy
especially for in increase in wages,
They do brandon, but you have to pay out of pocket and if you can’t the clinic absorbs the cost
so if you can’t afford it, you must go to a hospital
Can I get in queue for a question?
Bryana, yes, just use the raise hand function, just above the chat window
super thanks team
what about our seniors they are dying at rapid rate especially in nursing homes and health care facility?
If your teammate is in Oklahoma, does she own any tigers?
Lisa Ouellette gooooood question
very good question!
No, no tigers....I can't even bring myself to watch the show.
Priscilla Grimmer, you privately messaged me your question. make sure you click ‘everyone’ beside too so she can see it!
Hey now, Joe is a libertarian!
My wife watched the tiger show, good isolation watch apparently XD
Joe who? :)
if I don't get Time to ask my question. I would like to know why my son can't access service from his EA at school I have mesaged Dominic carry tweeted and the only response I received from him was that by retweeting and re emailing him that it will not get me a response.
My question is in regards to the latest federal budget...…...will there be any benefits coming for seniors and people on fixed incomes?
We know we can't return to business as usual. How do we bring society back? Is a Green New DDeaDeal a
why didn't the government do More with information from the military and world health organization in January why wasn't more done instead of being reactive why weren't they proactive?
I second Jonathan Love’s question, we had information in advance!
What was Rachelle's question?
Can you go to question in the chat room as well?
Hi Line, you are welcome to ask a question in the chat. I will add it to our queue.
Thanks Robert and Kirsten

Access to healthcare has always been hard in NB. Waiting for a family doc or waiting to see a doc at an after hours clinic has not improved. However https://www.evisitnb.ca/ has been a great addition during this time. Will this continue post the pandemic?
Question: many people and small businesses are seasonal and count on making enough in the summer months to support them for the entire year. Many work enough hours in the summer and collect EI in the winter. what
What happens when there is no business this summer
Woohoo!! NB needs to grow more of it's own food!!!
We're planting a lot, the deer and raccoons will probably be extremely well fed — we'll eat what's left
Very concerned with 5G!
Rogers set up 5g in major cities
Deer and raccoon make a good stew.
can we change the legislation in NB to allow competition with selling energy within the province so we can decentralize ?
Security and Health risks!
I'd chime in
5G has huge privacy risks, but the health risks seem like pseudoscience to me
WHO classifies radiowaves as 2B ("possibly carcinogenic"). Concerning but no reason to panic.
I'd like to see local food be the way forward!
i heard diary farmers are dumping their milks, that’s a shame. I hope we can come up with programs to help save perishable food.
it isn't pseudoscience.
There's a reason why there are warning labels on our phones about keeping phones near our bodies.
They emit EMF which is not healthy for our bodies. 5g Technology is WAYYY more powerful.
Towers will be installed every 100 meters, so way more towers and the signal is much stronger, so we're gonna be bombarded by WAYYY more radiation than we've ever been.
We see you Priscilla!! <3
Question: could the federal government send out a flyer to help people start home gardens?
I was doing casual work as an EA before Covid-19 hit. I can still do some of that work.
5g already been set up in Canada
provincial systems are not adapting to the covid 19 changes to provide the much increased need to support persons with disabilities on many fronts
Yup, significantly effects how our bodies function.
no they have not taken persons with disabilities losing outside supports was difficult enough but the effect it has on my child is unfair
Has the NB govt cut back long term care facility inspections like Ontario? How do we know?
This is not new!!! Has been happening for years in these places - COVID has only brought it to the forefront
Higgs turned down the increased pay :(
Norma has such great suggestions for protecting seniors. Now to see them implemented ..
well I can guarantee lawsuit against agency for negligence will happen once people aren't in survival mode.
I applied for EI April 7 but likely don’t have enough hours to qualify. I assume my application will be rolled over to CERB but unable to get thru on 1-800 number to verify. I’m a working senior out of necessity so need income to top up CPP and OAS
psw have always been undervalued and underpaid and it dd not seem that Blaine higgs has any intention to fix it
How is it that fast-food establishments are considered essential? Is a Big Mac or Double Double really essential?
Especially Tim Hortons. I mean, WHY???
When it comes to wages the NB government has only given small amounts; Not enough to follow the cost of living increases thats been happening over the years.
My question is concerning students and financial support during the outbreak. Many students are not able to pay their rent, for their groceries, medications, etc., due to the loss of summer job prospects and their inability to apply to the CERB. Are you aware of any measures that are being taken to ensure that this demographic does not fall through the cracks?
I have emailed my MLA asking about the prescription copay fee that has tripled since the govt brought in the max 1 month prescriptions - which I agree with to ensure that we have medication to care for seniors - but peoples copay fees have tripled. The NB govt is helping with the NB drug plan but not anyone on a private (Blue Cross) plan. These folks needs some form of compensation/rebate plan for all seniors who’ve had their drug expenses triples
no psw have to work 2 jobs I worked full time at Paradise villa and for Bayshore for 3 years to make ends met we make just a few dollars more than minimum wage and I was responsible for 12 residents by myself.
We need proper investments for wages, access for extra training. I know we can’t dictate what colleges do but NBCC should have a two year diploma program instead of one for the Human Service Counsellors program.
Lincoln we have an elderly, sickly neighbour — it breaks his heart that he can't go to Tim's and hang out with all his friends every day — I'm not a fan of Tim's but lots of people are emotionally attached
why aren't we being more self-sufficient country relying on China and the USA isn't working right now? we give Irving and big companies tax breaks why aren't they stepping up?
Yes, the antibody tests (immunity) should be rolled out nationwide, because many of us who have had it or are asymptomatic would be immune, and can return to normal life
Are there going to be any kind of incentives for essential workers after this situation ends?
Many surgeries were cancelled (mine included). Any ideas when it could slowly start back again, even at a slow pace?
Hi Jenica, I don't imagine I'll get to ask my question because you've had such a good turn out.... which is awesome! I'll ask here and hopefully, someone can follow up with me. I am a small business owner, I own Musketeer Farm and provide mental wellness services. I have a fulltime income that pays for my family, but my business has overhead that I am not able to cover with no clients. I am wondering what help is out there for small business. I heard that there is small business loans, but the qualifications and details aren't well described. I would appreciate some help in navigating!
the Canada summer jobs is saying it is closed for applications
My summer job was cancelled with the RCMP, most of my friends who had secured summer employment thru the gov. Have had their jobs cancelled.
ya we can't even apply for summer jobs as a student we are truly left in the dark
I do think we need to start talking about civil liberties. I have spoken to many people who feel there is far too much focus on limiting families and individuals, with respect to social distancing, but much less focus on retail, businesses, and workplaces, where there is a much higher risk of infection.
Alana, I have experienced this as well. Many of my peers have lost their job opportunities.
What considerations are on the table concerning rent freezes in the near future
People who applied for EI when this started, but are still waiting while their applications are "under review", can't do anything but keep waiting … meanwhile we are ineligible for NBWEIB and it doesn't seem they're going to fold us into the CERB until EI is approved.
I also lost my student job for the summer, the job is still running but I am unable to get federal security clearance due to the pandemic. Is an alternative to the fingerprinting process going to roll out? Any leniency for students with no criminal records?
I have to go, but I would like to thank you, Jenica and your team, for your great work for the citizens of Fredericton and Canada.
top up seniors CPP to 2,000/month
thank you Jenica and team
I agree with that
suggestion for seniors is to top up their CPP to 2,000/month
Thank you Jenica and the team for this forum! I really appreciate you taking the time to hear us!
Thank you for this Town Hall, Jenica and team!
Thank you Jenica. Thank you Robert.
I have to leave, I didn't get an answer to my question, maybe next time
if you email they will get back to you
I am self-employed, with minimal receivables currently. I don’t qualify for CERB, and don’t hit the $50k payroll threshold to allow my to qualify for a CEBA. Is this under review, or is there an escalation/appeal process?
We will go back to the speakers list over the next thirty minutes. If you didn't get your question in the chat answered, email us: firstname.lastname@example.org
thankyou for hosting this online, I have to go but hope you will be able to offer another in future
This is such a fantastic and helpful town Hall. Thank you everyone on the Atwin Team!

The Fredericton Community Foundation has set up a special fund for COVID-19.
I don't think I have ever believed in any other politician like I believe in you
Thank you Tim. We will get that out there
no my ei just run out and I got an email saying I'm no longer eligible
Food bank useage confirmed as up 30% this week. FYI
EvisitNB was amazing this week!
Evisit is AMAZING!!!!
Even out of province health cards are able to access for free right now!!
I am wondering why immigrants who has Training from other countries we were doctors. When they move to Canada, the extra training they need takes too much time or is too costly?
Thank you for that resource, I did not know about evisitnb.ca!
I am excited about the EvisitNB! I reside in Fredericton, but my family doctor is in SJ. I think this is amazing!!! I t keeps us out of the ER
In light of our new reliance on the internet, what is being done to support broader broadband coverage across the country - and especially in rural communities?
Thank you Jenica and your team for hosting this event. Also, thank you to Minister Jeff for participating. Great teamwork.
Thank you so much!! Hope this happens around the country as a great way to get people together and involved :D
There are so many organizations that can use help at this time. Fredericton Community Foundation has launched a Covid 19 response program. They’ve evaluated critical needs and your donation becomes part of their collaborative fund. Also they have a list of other organizations needing funds on their Facebook. And as well the Fredericton Resilience Fund has been launched which is a fund that is going to be matched up to 100k for a 200k total. Both can be easily found on Facebook.
Seeing the potential long term benefits with virtual health care and education, this would appear to be a very hot topic for the future - and a potential benefit coming out of this pandemic.
Also any local businesses selling plants or seeds rights now in a safe way?
re the seed bank -- contact the community harvest garden! The seeds are not directly accessible, but we are planting extra on our own so that seedlings will be available to people who need them.
I heard scott's in Fredericton is doing curbside - call the order in and they set it on a cart
question: For people who are currently pregnant. Access to drs is limited and many are nervous about giving birth in hospitals right now. Is anything being done to add to the midwife program to help with that vulnerable sector?
From Judy Wislon-Shee Thank you Jenica and your team for hosting this event. Also thank you to Minister Jeff for participating.
I’ve purchased seeds in grocery stores and Walmart, hardware stores.
Amazing to know thank you
I just purchased my seeds at Homeward
Before this pandemic happened, PSAC had/ has many public servant groups without contracts for many years. I was happy to wait until I heard about the pay increase on parliament hill! Is it possible that those management members could consider addressing this issue. These talks could continue virtually.
Very well done everyone! Thank you for hosting this forum.
There are seed companies in Nova Scotia that you can order from as well. Hopeseed.com and annapolisseeds.com for instance
Thanks Jenica and your team for this great informative town hall. Much appreciated, and a lot was covered. Looking forward o the next one. Thanks for your informative updates so far as well. We are living through unprecedented times for our generation.
