Yayyy!

Margaret (Callie) Johnson was a librarian at UNC who left a sizable legacy to the chapel of the Cross. $100,000 was set aside by the Vestry to start the Johnson Intern Program.

01:11:06
Our year (the 2nd year) I don't think we had to build a tent, but we did a similar exercise making brownies.

01:11:50
I had forgotten about that!

01:11:54
Were the brownies any good @Jack?

01:12:07
Actually they were!

01:17:07
Thank you elizabeth!!

01:34:14
Wow!

01:34:25
Love you all More! Thank for you for the opportunity to serve.

01:36:45
I’ve used the lessons I learned at JSC in community living to help with my current house of roommates! It’s helped so much!

01:36:57
One of my favorite memories was my house trying to mark grape leaves and making a huge delicious mess when they all unraveled

01:37:49
I learned that there is always enough.

01:38:04
Calling the fire department the first day in the house lol!

01:38:30
Snake wrangling in the Carrboro basement, on three different occasions lol.

01:38:36
JSC has THE BEST COOKS!!

01:38:38
my chair will go in our museum one day

01:38:42
Walking into the house to find out that my housemates had started (and put out) a fire XD -Emlyn

01:38:48
I will be a corps member next year and I’m so excited!

01:38:52
Starting that fire ^

01:39:02
A nest of copperheads under the wooden front walk at the house on Oak Ave

01:39:06
Playing board games and eating dinner with my housemates.

01:39:10
Food, amazing how there was either abundance or scarcity with the same resources from year to year

01:39:16
I still make recipes that I learned during my service year. Eating them reminds me of sitting around the table at our Carrboro house

01:39:29
I fell in love with enneagram and still use communication tools like "permission to be messy" and the gift box

01:39:34
Same, Kirsten! We had the best recipes :)

01:39:57
our Chopped day, when we used up all our food during the program's last week in an epic competition <3

01:41:34
Getting schooled on what it means to be a part of a congregational church (that not all Baptists are the same) by our fellow intern, Amy Grizzle, self proclaimed liberal, feminist, pro choice Baptist.

01:41:39
Grateful for the presence and participation in the life of the Advocate of many JIP and JSC members through the years. What a gift. Blessings on you all.

01:43:00
I loved attending the Advocate, Lisa! I still think about it and miss it. Such a wonderful and unique church

01:44:42
Loved my 07-08 class! Going to eat at Carol Woods with my mentor Martha Hart and her husband Larry. Eating peanut butter soup (it was not good!) and trying to eat more vegetarian :) Going to DC and hanging out at The Advocate. Helping teach confirmation with Katie Thompson at COTC, led by David Frazelle. So many good memories!

01:44:44
I remember learning Centering Prayer with David Frazelle

01:45:10
me too! great memory :)

01:45:11
Love all of these! I agree—messy, fun, and full kitchens and many movie nights and looong, rambling philosophical conversations with each other that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

01:45:15
Love you Watty!

01:45:41
Yesss Badria movie nights and lots of hikes and random adventures

01:47:14
Coffee at Café Driade with my mentor Tim West

01:47:39
Watty, you have been an inspiration that I have carried with me. It is great to be with you!

01:49:33
So many incredible memories, meals, lessons, and experiences I have taken away from my time in the Laurel house in JSC!
